The members of the Vallvidrera Curling Club in Barcelona, Spain will not win a world championship anytime soon.

But when (if) they do, Kara Balshaw and her Fort Rouge team will be able to say “we played them in their first game”.

Like many places starting to curl across the world - the VCC has no stones, ice, building!!

Never mind all that - they gave enthusiasm for the sport! And some obvious athletic ability.

After an on-ice lesson from the Balshaw team members, and FRCC manager Dennis Sworyk, and more than few false starts - an hour into the game, they were developing a semblance of respectable deliveries and making a few shots!

Perhaps most important, the smiles told the world what all of already know “THIS IS FUN”! by @vallvicurling

I així, any rere any. Partit? Encara pendent! 😂

A Spanish curling team (@vallvicurling) in a mountain town near Barcelona claims to have invented the sport one year before the Scots — nearly 500 years ago. But the evidence for this is sketchy at best — as is the seriousness of the team itself.
