Earned myself a degree in ICAM Music! 🎵

Special thanks to professor King Britt, Shahrokh Yadegari, Memo Akten, and all the faculty members from the music and visual art departments for a transformative learning experience. Your care for students were exceptional. 🙏

Really thankful for the friends I met in the ICAM program as well. You all are my inspirations! 🌟

About a year ago, I graduated from this beautiful university, UC San Diego. I had the most amazing learning experience that I am forever grateful for, despite the disruption by the pandemic.

I had high hopes for myself, thinking that life would only go up from here because I was prepared. Not gonna lie, I struggled to find the stability I was looking for over the past year.

2023 for me was a roller coaster ride. There were times where I felt absolutely proud and loved, but there were also times where I felt depressed and lost.

I am lucky to have found a job that I enjoy and have met a group of incredibly talented and kind coworkers. But life and things happened and hit me like a storm. I felt like I was put up against some really difficult challenges. I wanted to give up so many times even though I’ve been the one who believes that there’s always another way out.

I’d like to thank my teachers, coworkers, friends, and family who have been supportive along the way. They helped me see the value in me and made me feel appreciated even when I had many doubts in myself.

Right now, I feel calm and safe about where I am in life. I realized that there’s no need to look for “stability” if it means no growth. Life can be interesting with positive surprises and unexpected challenges.

I feel like I can proudly say that I graduated from UC San Diego and entered adulthood with a purpose. I know that I have what it takes to tackle the obstacles even if they remain unknown.

Thank you, 2023, for making me learn and growing into a better and wiser person.

To fully accept my present self and welcome my new self, I have to let go of my past self…

Today, I am finally ready to close the last chapter and move towards the next 💙
