We’re missing our students this fall break, so we decided to take a little trip down memory lane! 🎃👻

From creative costumes to fun memories made over the years, these Halloween throwbacks celebrate the people and moments that have made CONHP special through the years. We hope everyone is enjoying a restful fall break, and we can’t wait to welcome our students back for all the fun still ahead this October!

There’s still plenty of Halloween fun to look forward to! Valparaiso University’s Community Trick-or-Treat is Tuesday, October 27, from 4:30–6:30 p.m. in the Harre Union. We hope to see you there! by @valpoconhp

Dr. Teri Koch, Program Director, Family Nurse Practitioner Program, and Dr. Mike Schwuchow, Assistant Professor of Nursing, are at the Coalition of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses of Indiana (CAPNI) Pharmacology Conference alongside two of our 2025 DNP graduates, Dr. Stephanie Krol (BSN '18, DNP '25) and Dr. Lizzie (Heisler) Russell (BSN '21, DNP '25)!

The Fall All Majors Career & Internship Fair is a great opportunity to connect with employers, explore career options, and learn what organizations are looking for in future healthcare professionals. There’s strong interest in recruiting CONHP majors!

Not looking for a job just yet? You should still attend! Career fairs are a great way to practice introducing yourself, build confidence talking with employers, explore different career paths, and start making connections before you’re ready to enter the workforce.

Congratulations to our Physician Assistant faculty authors on their newly published article, “Best Practices for Peer Physical Examination in PA Education: A Trauma-informed, Culturally Sensitive Approach,” in the September 2026 issue of The Journal of Physician Assistant Education!

Peer physical examinations are an important part of PA education, helping students develop essential clinical skills. This article highlights best practices for creating respectful, trauma-informed and culturally sensitive learning experiences that recognize students’ individual needs while supporting their clinical development.

We’re excited to see our faculty contribute to the broader PA education community through this important work!

🎉 Happy 10-Year Work Anniversary, Susan Zaweski! 🎉

As one of CONHP’s Simulation Education Specialists, Professor Zaweski manages the many details that go into creating meaningful simulation experiences for our students. From coordinating schedules to making sure everything is in place for students to practice their skills, her work helps prepare them for the realities of patient care.

Professor Zaweski brings intelligence, compassion, and a heart for helping others to everything she does. Her faith is an important part of who she is, and that care for others shines through in the way she supports our students and colleagues.

Healthcare education asks a lot of our students — classes, clinicals, labs, internships, work, leadership and everything in between. Taking care of your mental health matters, too.

This World Mental Health Day, we’re reminding our CONHP students to make time for themselves, check in with each other and ask for help when they need it. You don’t have to do it alone.

CASS — Connect and Stay Strong — is one way to find support and connection within the CONHP community.

CASS meets each Wednesday at 3:15 p.m., beginning October 14.
