The work matters. So do the people you choose to make it with.

For the next chapter of our Artist Series, Anthony Almonte reflects on friendship, collaboration, and remembering why you started in the first place.

In Anthony’s words:

Making music for a living?

It’s not the easiest career path. But it certainly is a gratifying one.

There are countless reasons to stress, to grow frustrated, even to wonder what life might look like doing something else.

So I constantly remind myself why I chose this in the first place.

Because I love it. And because I believe in what music can do.

The people you surround yourself with can either amplify that feeling… or slowly take it away from you.

Luckily, I chose to make music with friends. To the point that sometimes I forget these are also some of the baddest fuckers at their respective crafts!

That’s what it’s all about.

Making something you believe in, with people you believe in. ⚡️

We’re back with the next chapter of our Artist Series with Anthony Almonte. This time, Anthony takes us behind the scenes and shares what was happening in the rehearsal room.

Rehearsals should be enjoyable!

Of course, this is where we review, refine, and find all the little things that make the music come alive. But it’s also the moment when the songs begin to feel different.

You feel them in your fingertips.

What once lived in a voice memo, on a page, or through a pair of studio headphones suddenly becomes tangible.

The release is getting closer. The excitement is no longer somewhere in the distance. It’s right there in the room with you.

I’ve always loved rehearsing—watching all the pieces find their place and hearing the music take on a life of its own. And with this cast? We were mowing through the tunes.

Which, naturally, left us plenty of time to laugh some more ⚡️

The Roc Father Artist Series celebrates the people behind the art and the process that shapes their work. Next up: percussionist Anthony Almonte ⚡️

A singer, percussionist, composer, and member of the E Street Band, Anthony recently took the stage at Dizzy’s Club to debut his album. We caught up with him after the show to talk about the work, uncertainty and inspiration that went into bringing it to life. Here, Anthony shares the journey in his own words:

It started long before I sang the first note.

Voice memos recorded in the middle of the night, or somewhere over the Atlantic.
Endless phone calls. Brainstorming. Planning.
Countless hours in the studio.
The excitement of watching artists and musicians I admire say yes.
The moments of doubt. The questions. The uncertainty.
The thrill of seeing ideas come to fruition in ways that exceeded my expectations.

Every artist has something to say. This was the first time I truly felt ready to say it in my own voice.
Reflection.
Positivity.
Love.

Every step, every conversation, every leap of faith led to this view.

Some moments ask you to look back before they ask you to step forward.
