So honoured to have been awarded 🏆Honourable Mention for my painting “Rewriting the Lines”!!!🎶🎶

🌸💚This painting was inspired by my love for Barbra Streisand singing “Memories” in the movie “The Way We Were”!

At the Art Guild of Scarborough’s Spring Show today.

Show continues tomorrow, 10 - 5
Scarborough Centennial Centre.

Work in progress.🎼🌸

Layers of colour, abstract florals, music lines and handwritten lyrics, all inspired by ….wait for
the next post!🌸

I love watching a painting evolve as each layer adds something new.

And when music is part of
the story, it makes the process even more meaningful.💗

Here’s a little peek behind the scenes!

Ever wonder how “She Rises” came together? 🎥
Watch it go from blank canvas to finished piece - the blooms building up layer by layer, and the words Dream, Grow, and Become finding their place along the music notation.

“She Rises” 🌸 (12x12” Mixed Media on gallery canvas)

The newest piece in my uplifting words collection, painted on a warm gold background with blooms spilling across the canvas. The words Dream, Grow, and Become are woven right into the music notation lines - a little reminder that rising is a process, not a moment.
Swipe through for a closer look at the details.

(Updated - Aargh…it has been pointed out to me that the photos are cut off! So I will post again!)

Painted these two paintings pleinair yesterday in Haliburton Forest, and at Kennesis Lake, with the East Central Ontario Art Association (@Ecoaa.ca).
The colours are in their full fall beauty! Just spectacular.

And if you go to Algonquin, visit the Mystery of the Park show at Algonquin Centre.

Both are oil, 8x10” and 6x8” on canvas pad.

“Come Roll Back to Me” has been selected for the Visual Arts Mississauga exhibition, “Where the Water Takes Us”. (October 13-25, 2026)

I painted this after seeing some pretty powerful waves in Sardinia. I exaggerated the wave and pushed the colours because I wanted to capture the energy and movement I felt that day.

And there’s something about the persistence of waves that I really relate to. They just keep coming.
This painting also won the Gold Award at the Central Ontario Art Association’s Crossection juried show in 2024, so I’m especially happy to see it selected for this exhibition.

More details soon!
