On Friday I made the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to the wee beastie. She had been living with liver disease which i was able to manage for the last year with pills, supplements, oral medication and lots of love. Unfortunately during the last two weeks she became much worse and filled with fluid. She was also discovered to have cancer in her liver. I adopted her from the MCSPCA in 2019 and she has been a constant and loving companion ever since. I first saw her on their website in January of 2019 but wasnt ready for a new kitty until April of 2019. When i finally decided to go to the shelter I walked in and there she was in the first kitty enclosure, looking down at me as if to say “its about time. Now put me in a carrier so we can blow this clam bake!”
She later moved with me from New Jersey to Rhode Island and then to her final home here in Michigan. She was one well traveled Kitty.
My heart is broken but i know she had a great life with me and she’s no longer suffering. Im gonna miss you kiddo. by @vanavonkatt

ME:Its been a long time since we posted here.
VANA: well, i can’t post anything… you’re the one with the thumbs.
ME: yeah i know. I love how the light hits your eyes…
VANA: What that?? Big dog?
ME: Thats a deer.
VANA: Deer? Looks like a dog to me.
ME: Well it’s not. You could definitely not mess with those.

ME: I see you’re getting used to our new home.
VANA: Yah, is okay.
ME: Ya know, you’re a pretty well traveled kitty. You started in New Jersey, then on to Rhode Island and now Michigan. Its exciting!
VANA: No. is not. I don’t likes travel..
ME: I know you don’t. But we’ll be here for a while.
VANA: I hopes so. I like the cubby in the bathroom. Blanket Sally gave me is really nice. Fuzzy like me..

ME:Well, you survived.
VANA: Barely. That was a long ride.
ME: I know, for me too. The room is nice though, right?
VANA: Yeah, cozy.
ME: Sure is. Now get a good nights sleep. No 3am shenanigans. We have another big ride in the morning.
VANA: The car again?
ME: Yep. But after that we’ll be in our new home.
VANA: Treats there?
ME: Do you think of anything else?

VANA: Hey Dad…. What that? Hey! Wait! Nooo….
*sigh*
ME: It looks great!
VANA: *angry glares *
ME: I know baby. Uncomfortable. But you’re gonna have to wear that for a couple days. Its for your safety.
VANA: I IS safe now.
ME: Well…true…. But we are…ummm…gonna be going for a little ride soon.
VANA: I hates car.
ME: I know you do, but it will be fine…I promise.
VANA: How long?
ME: ummm two days..
VANA: Two day? Why ??
ME: We’re going on a little trip. Its far away. Im sorry. But it will all be good when we get there.
VANA: I hope so. Where going ?
ME: Michigan. Sally will be there…
VANA: Okay I loves Sally. She has treats?
ME: *eyeroll* yes… Sally has treats. And she’ll scratch your ears the way you like.

ME: That was exciting..
VANA: Scary.
ME: Im sorry baby, but im so happy you’re ok now.
VANA: Sorry I barfed in the car. Twice.
ME: It’s ok baby.
VANA: That doctor was nice. But she didn’t gives me treats.
ME: Baby you were having an asthma attack, treats probably weren’t a good idea.
VANA: Treats are always a good idea. You has some now?
ME: *sigh* yes…
VANA: you the best! *crunchcrunch*
