I met the glorious Gloria Steinem when she visited Australia in 2016. She was wise, and she was generous with her wisdom. She was brilliantly clever, very funny and she imparted the lesson of sisterhood and solidarity in everything she did. So should we, who mourn her, so she continues. Vale. by @vanbadham

The huuuuge Margaret Preston exhibition that opened tonight at the @ngvmelbourne is a triumph of Australian curation. It is a respectful celebration of Preston’s prodigious talent, while never veering into hagiography; her habits of cultural appropriation (specifically, art and cultural objects of Australian First Peoples) - that did, unquestionably, inform and expand her singular visual imagination - are critically examined with dignity and honest reckoning. The choice to hang work by Gordon Bennett and others that challenge this specific Preston inheritance within Australian art is as visually compelling as it is appropriate in its exhibition context, and fair. Really good. Really, really well done. You’ll see what I mean from artworks not included above when you go and see it, which - if you love Australian art - you must. by @vanbadham

#SomethingDigital in Brisbane is ALWAYS a highlight of the year - a broad, provocative programme of debates and discussions about tech, who runs it, who benefits from it, who uses it, what it means today and tomorrow. I always get SO MUCH out of not just who talks on stage but who I meet at the events. This was the composition of the panel I hosted on AI and what it is (or isn’t) doing for writers across creative industry and I just think of a better gang of evil geniuses to have this discussion: @nadinevoncohen, @clairerpullen, @joanwestenberg and @doigdoig - literally some of Australia’s finest minds turn out to be its funniest. Love them. taken in The Tivoli Brisbane by @vanbadham

My superb and very handsome friend @pccmarshall (Peter Marshall) is my guest co-host on @the_week_on_wednesday this week. An activist for @uklabour and a rare Labour gain in the recent council elections, our conversation about the very conspicuous parallels about billionaire-sponsored right wing populists in both the UK and Australia is super compelling. You will love him as much as I do. Lino to episode in stories. by @vanbadham
