Diese Woche findet das Festival Internacional de Cine de Cartagena de Indias statt. Regisseurin Vanessa Monti ist mit ihrem Film CONSAGRACIÓN dort und nimmt euch am 19.04. in unseren Instagram-Stories mit dorthin!

Vanessa Monti (1997, Florenz) ist eine Filmemacherin und Künstlerin, die zwischen Italien und Kolumbien aufgewachsen ist und derzeit in Köln lebt. Ihre Werke bewegen sich zwischen Film, Performance und Installation. Darin untersucht sie Erinnerung, den weiblichen Körper und ihre Verbindung zu ihren lateinamerikanischen Wurzeln. Ihre persönlichen Erzählungen – oft roh, symbolisch und von einer gewissen Dunkelheit durchzogen – treten in Dialog mit rituellen Elementen und Natur, um Fragen nach Zugehörigkeit und den Orten, die wir physisch wie emotional bewohnen, zu stellen.

Cartagena International Film Festival is taking place this week. Director Vanessa Monti is there with her film CONSAGRACIÓN and will be taking you along through our Instagram Stories on 19 April!

Vanessa Monti (1997, Florence) is a filmmaker and artist raised between Italy and Colombia and currently based in Cologne. Her practice spans film, performance, and installation, exploring memory, the female body, and her connection to her Latin American roots. Her personal narratives - often raw, symbolic, and touched by a certain darkness - engage with ritual elements and the natural world to question belonging and the places we inhabit, both physically and emotionally.

AG Kurzfilm and German Films are supporting the trip by subsidizing Vanessa’s travel expenses. You can find all information and the application form for travel support under “Services for Filmmakers” on our website.

we are insanely honoured to return to our homeland with Consagración. Even more so to be hosted by @ficcifestival , one of the oldest and most important film festivals in Latin America. The film has been selected for the Official Colombian Short Film Competition.

2026 marks exactly 10 years since Vanessa moved away, and 9 for Gabriela. It means the world to us to know that, even after so long and from such a distance, our voices still reach the land we come from.

ㅤ♡ㅤ♡ྀིྀི Consagración premiered last week ♡ྀིㅤ♡ྀིㅤ, with five screenings almost fully sold out, the film received so much love from the audience and sparked many touching conversations…

To thousand more intimate films rooted in our Latin American heritage, our diaspora, our magical realism, our eeriness, and our playfulness :-)!!!!

Endless thanks to this stunning creative family and to the one in Colombia (me hicieron la de falta </3). I feel for real so blessed to have each of these artists, filmmakers and friends as part of this first film.
