In advance of Monaco Yacht Week, let’s talk about the @thefloatingart.hotel ✨✨ The concept is : floating art gallery + 5-star hotel + private club + chance to stay on a super yacht during some of the top global events like Monaco Grand Prix, ArtBasel Hong Kong, and more.

Our friend @gaellex collaborates with our partners around the world to create this travelling cultural platform which brings together contemporary art, premium hospitality, Michelin-starred dining and a carefully curated community.

Its inaugural edition transformed a 72-metre yacht during the Monaco Grand Prix into an intimate floating world of art, performance, dining and connection, with more than 30 international artists exploring « States of Motion »

We experienced exceptional art, people and events for several days (and of course fun at the race!🏎️🏁). It was the catalyst to many future collaborations. DM me for more details ✨✨

Bringing together eight artists whose practices explore movement, transformation, and the inevitable shifts between physical and digital life, ‘Malleable Archives: What the Future Remembers’ is a multimedia exhibition invites us to remain curious, united, and responsive during a period shaped by rapid change, ecological uncertainty, disconnection, and constant surveillance.

Michael Armitage works move between narratives based on reality and dreamlike visions. Born in Nairobi in 1984, Michael addresses points of contention of our time, such as sociopolitical frictions, violence, seductive ideologies and the global migrant crisis.

He intertwining personal recollections, media imagery, symbolic imagination, and weaving them with a constellation of references; from prehistoric cave markings to African cinema, art, literature, and the Western painterly tradition. Armitage composes dense and ambiguous scenes, that always leave space for the viewer’s interpretation.

Beyond his artistic practice, Armitage founded the Nairobi Contemporary Art Institute (NCAI) in 2020, a non-profit institution dedicated to the growth and preservation of contemporary art from the East African region.
