Today is GBM Awareness Day. 🧠

Here are 3 things you might not know about Glioblastoma (GBM):
1. GBM is one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer, with an average life expectancy of just 12 months after diagnosis.
2. It is severely underfunded compared to other cancers, limiting crucial research and treatment advancements.
3. Symptoms can seem harmless at first, often presenting as persistent headaches, like the one that took my dad to the ER, leading to his diagnosis.

Late in 2023, my world shattered when we learned my dad had stage 4 brain cancer. I remember feeling like I was trapped in a nightmare, desperately hoping I’d wake up and everything would be okay. My initial reaction was anger, confusion, and a powerful urge to run away.

But as a first-gen daughter, my instinct kicked in to translate, advocate, research, and hold onto hope for my dad and my family. It was a nonstop battle… navigating hospitals, doctors, and insurance hurdles. Each day became filled with fear and anxiety. Every phone call, every text brought fresh dread that we’d be back in the ER.

After two surgeries, radiation, chemo, and fighting tirelessly against aggressive tumors,my dad went to heaven on April 22, 2025. I held his hand until his last breath.❤️‍🩹

I still haven’t fully processed this experience, but sharing our story helps me heal and raise awareness about this devastating disease.
