For me, Bali just made that obvious.

More time outside. More freedom over my days. Work I can build around my life instead of the other way around. And not constantly waiting for Friday, summer or the next trip to finally feel good again.

Maybe the dream isn’t Bali.

Maybe it’s building an everyday life you don’t constantly need to escape.

From the outside, it looks like ocean mornings, beautiful villas, sunsets, cafés and this endless feeling of freedom.

And yes… a lot of it really is that beautiful.

But Bali also has a way of stripping things back. You’re far away from everything familiar, people come and go constantly, plans change overnight, relationships get tested, work gets messy, and sometimes you’re sitting in paradise having one of the hardest weeks of your life.

That’s the part Instagram usually skips.

What I love about living here is that Bali doesn’t let me stay comfortable for very long. Every time I think I have life figured out, something changes and I’m forced to grow again.

Somehow the hard moments have made me love this place even more, because I didn’t move here to create a perfect life. I moved here and slowly created a life that actually feels like mine.

More freedom. More nature. More time outside. More people who think differently. And a version of myself I don’t think I would have met if I had stayed where everything felt familiar.

Bali isn’t perfect, and I never want to pretend it is.

But after living here, I understand why so many people come for a few months and end up completely changing their lives.

If you’ve ever moved to Bali, lived abroad, or left your old life to start again somewhere new, you’ll probably understand this feeling.
