When archiving, research, and design intersect 🩶 So proud to have helped design pages of ALAHAS [@alahasbook] by @maangelica.mnl under the creative direction of @manifestodesignlab [Tomas & Kara]. First book I’ve ever worked on and there’s not enough superlatives to describe how cool and rewarding it is to see it finally come to life !

Thinking about my first Venice Biennale @labiennale. Full days of unnerving, inspiring art and navigating the insane biennale map (all alone). Would do it again.

My first and most anticipated stop was to finally see some wicked #MarinaAbramovic work in Gallerie dell’Accademia, the first living woman to hold a major solo show in the gallery. Bucketlist moment seeing hundreds of unrealized #AnishKapoor architectural models and some defining Vantablack installations. Saw so much #OriolVilanova and by so much I mean his 50,000 (!) postcard collection at the Spanish Pavilion. And so special to see Our Islands by #MarthaAtienza as part of a show on Venice-Bangkok maritime dialogue. Chatting with kababayans in front of the intricate drawings of #PioAbad at the Giardini also made me smile. And many more favorites. 🩶

Transforming Energy by #MarinaAbramovic. Telepathy phones, crystal bath tubs, crystal domes, obelisks, pendulums, and hair whips.

A new iteration of #AnishKapoor’s 1998 ‘At the Edge of the World’. Feeling so lucky to have seen and experienced this as unsettling as it was. Standing beneath and looking up at this will have your hair rising and eyes looking at eternal nothingness.

Eerie black

‘End of The World’ by Chilean artist #AlfredJaarmade with geographer #AdamBobbette. A very dizzying and unsettling walk up to the black pedestal to view a 1.5inch cube packed with the 10 most critical minerals in the world.

Our Islands by #MarthaAtienza, set at the underground floor of Palazzo Rocco. Interesting coincidence that the installation is the same level as the canals!

Beautiful monumental paintings by #KalokiNyamai. The biggest painting in the biennale.

Heaven/Hell. #AnishKapoor

Beautiful intricate drawings by #PioAbad at the Giardini.

Zinah (Adornment) by #HaithamAlBusafi. I walked 5 steps in and stepped right out… the dagger-lined ceiling made my imagination go wild. 🥲

Black cat crossing 🐈‍⬛

When Colin said she was going to take my portrait I didn’t think she would have me sit in a dark room.. with her on a step-ladder, tracing my features with a flashlight. I said “you’re like a magician and a painter!” Thank you for your light and magic @colindancel ! ❤️‍🔥 by @vanillazilla
