Here are a few highlights from the event!

Join us on 8 August at 2 pm for an afternoon of moving #image, conversation, and reflection at @galleriimage 📸

We are pleased to present a screening of works by Elisabeth Brun @elisabrun77, followed by a conversation with independent curator and lecturer Vanina Saracino @vanina.saracino

How do media technology shape the way we experience and understand place?

In Brun’s films, the camera becomes more than a recording device — it is a way of thinking with terrains, technologies, and environments. Through what she describes as moving image #topography, her works explore how perception is mediated and how we navigate worlds shaped by both human and technological forces.

The programme includes screenings of Big Tech Blues (2025) and 3xShapes of Home (2020), alongside excerpts from Brun’s current research exploring mountains as a prism for understanding the relationship between human and geological time.

Following the screenings, Brun and Saracino will discuss the camera as a tool for spatial knowledge, perception, and world-building, before opening the floor for questions.

Programme📄

14:00–14:15 — Welcome and introduction

14:15–14:45 — Screening:

• 3xShapes of Home (7 min, 2020)

“Chakaruna: the in-between being”, an exhibition by @amalia.valdes.studio. On view at @galeriapatriciaready, Santiago de Chile, Chile, until 3 June 2026. Curated by IKT Member @vanina.saracino .

The exhibition centres on the notion of chakaruna, the being between worlds, a term from the Quechua language (chaka: bridge, runa: person), to explore ways of inhabiting the tension between worlds, perspectives, and systems of thought.

Amalia creates a symbolic universe where the geometric and the spiritual, the ancestral and the contemporary, are in constant dialogue. At a time marked by increasing fragmentation, her work looks to art as a space to hold difference, foster connection, and open up new ways of being in relation.

Today we open “Chakaruna: el ser entre”, an exhibition by Amalia Valdés at Galería Patricia Ready, which I had the immense pleasure to curate.

The exhibition centers around the notion of chakaruna, the being in-between worlds, a term from the Quechua language (chaka: bridge, runa: person), to explore ways of inhabiting the tension between worlds, perspectives, and systems of thought. Amalia creates a symbolic universe where the geometric and the spiritual, the ancestral and the contemporary, are in constant dialogue. At a time marked by increasing fragmentation, her work looks at art as a space to hold difference, foster connection, and open new ways of being in relation.

It has such been a joy to work with Amalia, dear friend and an extraordinary artist, and to engage closely with this project! Come see the exhibition if in Santiago de Chile 💫

What if the sun isn’t just a star… but a subtle influencer of humanity?

In Berlin, we followed @vanina.saracino through her curatorial selection Solar Prospects — moving from an 1896, 21-meter telescope to the studio of Chilean artist Amalia Valdés, through solar symbols, ancient calendars, and one quietly radical idea: that the sun doesn’t just light our world — it might shape how we move through it, together.

☀️ Bonus: touching a meteorite, cranking open observatory dome shutters, and chasing the rarest thing Berlin has to offer — actual sunlight.

What if the sun is not just light, but a force shaping how we live and change together? And on the days when there’s so little sun, don’t we need it more than ever? ☀️

“Over the past five years since our last collaboration (Tiger in Space, EKKM, 2020, curated with Marten Esko and Lea Vene), Õllek’s artistic research on marine ecologies has evolved alongside the intensifying condition of climate breakdown, responding to human impact on the oceans with work that is both materially rigorous and conceptually expansive,” writes Vanina Saracino in the article “Breath of the Deep Sea: Kristina Õllek” 🌊
