🇹🇭🍳 Thai Cooking Adventure – Part 2 at Sompong Thai Cooking School

After the local market tour, we headed back to the school and kicked off with watching Teacher June demonstrate how to cook some iconic Thai dishes — Pad Thai, Mango Sticky Rice, Green Curry and Tom Yum Goong 🤍

She is incredibly knowledgeable and shared so many useful tips and cooking hacks that you probably won’t find in recipe books. I asked her a lot of questions (😆) and she handled every one of them so patiently and clearly.

Had so much fun in the kitchen cooking, learning and laughing along the way. The assistants were also super friendly and fun-loving — such great vibes all around. I really, really enjoyed myself there!

🌿🇹🇭 Thai Cooking Adventure at Sompong Thai Cooking School - Part 1 🇹🇭🌿

Stepped into a true local experience today at Sompong Thai Cooking School — and what a way to start the day!

Our first stop was a local morning market, where the streets were alive with energy. Rows of local vendors selling freshly cooked food — the kind locals grab for breakfast — alongside stalls filled with fresh herbs, spices, vegetables and ingredients straight from the source. It was such an eye-opening way to see what really goes into Thai cooking.

Our teacher introduced us to the commonly used ingredients in every Thai kitchen, sharing tips on how locals choose and use them. So interesting to learn beyond just recipes — it’s really about culture and daily life here.

Truly such a refreshing experience being close to the local community and learning authentic Thai cooking hands-on.

Coffee heaven! Had the most unforgettable cup of egg coffee in HCMC. The rich aroma of egg, vanilla and strong Vietnamese coffee left me wanting more! On the other hand, my visit to the Central Market was a mixed bag. The experience was refreshing for 1st timer but food was a letdown. Heavily touted, please don’t go there if you don’t like being “pushed”. Luckily, I found a gem near my hotel serving decent Vietnamese broken rice - no crowds, just good food! Must-visit in Dalat! The night market at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street is a hotspot for locals and tourists alike! Pro tip: stay at a nearby hotel to easily stash your purchases and shop ‘til you drop Fresh fruits and local produce at affordable prices, and delicious street food galore (just ignore the touting) We loved having dinner at the night market and nearby restaurants - the atmosphere is electric! CAPYBARA LOVE IS REAL! I’m absolutely smitten with these adorable furballs! Getting to pet and snuggle them is pure joy! And let’s not forget the doggie squad - those cuties stole my heart! Serenity now! Found my sanctuary in a quaint Dalat neighborhood. Waiting for a workshop to start in this cozy cottage-style haven, surrounded by beautiful art pieces.
