1: 2023, A4 leaflet, 2-colour risograph print on evercolor ivory 80gsm recycled paper

2: 2017 screenprinted tote bag (with multiple years of wear) for an old band with @peterpandrews called BORDER that i had never documented, still painfully relevant!

in researching photojournalism on this subject, i also came across the work of schwenningen-born photographer kai wiedenhöfer and his books “wall” (2007) and “book of destruction” (2010) - not featured here - that display photographs of the effects of israeli occupation on the ecological and civilian landscapes of gaza. in a moment of continuing bleak comedy, his disembodied photos of chunks of west bank concrete (presented without any commentary) were deemed “anti-semitic photography” by german politicians and the left.

wiedenhöfer still receives online abuse discrediting his award-winning documentation of oppression and innocent victims of violence (the opening of “book of destruction”, featuring portraits of children living with amputated limbs, was protested by german antideutsche). he was barred from exhibiting excerpts of “wall” that would have been projected onto die berliner mauer, due to removal of the state funding of the work.

you know the saying: if you give a girl a big outdated photocopier that prints with soy based inks, you feed her for a lifetime!

a whole new bunch of risographed 58mm badges i’ve made for myself (mostly) and you (maybe). l - r from the top:

eikoh hosoe’s 1971 photography of japanese female impersonator simon yotsuya, [REDACTED ITEM], the big question and april 1984 front cover of maximum rocknroll, OG breakcore GOATs cycheouts (technically a mix of iconography with their more dubstep-forward later project cycheouts ghost), my personal favourite conspiracy and repressed gay psycho, laurence rassel’s painting for those of us in the madonna-free zone (no offence intended TT).

last two are purely for me: slightly hornier cut from ordeal by roses - yukio mishima’s extremely masculine and tough and not homosexual photo series for hosoe, and a crass one (cut directly out of a spare inlay i had for “bullshit detector” when a discogs seller sent me a nuked copy and refunded me without asking for a return). thank you weird guy. caws they du.

i’m taking down my online store for austerity realm stuff as i’ve realised everyone just buys from me in person — so if you want any of these you gotta come get them from now on. Victoria S Porter is a London musician and multimedia artist who performs under the alias Vanity Crystal. Drawing upon sampling, demystification and social deviance, her work has been presented at venues and festivals including Cafe OTO, Iklectik, Gallery46, VSSL and Supernormal Festival. She is a member of the bands Rubber and Traidora.

Both solo and as one half of Voices Radio residents Repetitive Strain, Porter has spent a decade curating radio and events with carefully-woven anti-genre approach. Her unboundaried work as a broadcaster has appeared on platforms including Balamii, Refuge Worldwide, Resonance Xtra and NTS.

the spiral times is up 2 stream! this month I was joined in the sweatbooth by my day one dearest vic aka vanity crystal - london-born sound artist, wince-inducing selectress, doyenne of deep fried memes, certified rascal generational gay talent mostly to be found doing doughnuts with no license at the intersection of art and technology. this one was a joy very cool sunshine daytime gently cosmic troll dance i learn so much from her all the time all the time for all time ok everybody if you feel lost remember to worship your friends (it is an offence to support a proscribed organisation.) taken in Dungeness Nuclear Power Station by @vanitycrystal

nu mix up on my soundcloud 🌊 live from TRANSCENDENZ at avalon cafe last month, 1hr of pure vrooming (i can’t drive i’m assuming that’s what happens) and the logical conclusion of my recent chronic compulsion to play mr oizo. if karlie looks angry at me i know the set is banging the box. thanks @half.bird once again for asking me to play 🌀
