hi everyone 🤍~

checking in w u guys that i’m alive :p work has been p busy since i’m still on orientation so i haven’t had much time to be active on here. but a big update is that i have 1 month left before i’m solo!! (😳) i’ve been learning so much and it’s been so fun & rewarding taking care of the kiddos at work! they’re so resilient and amazing :,)

inpatient is def my fav type of shift (i knew this from day 1 tho LOL) since i love seeing my patients’ progress day by day. oh and it’s still tough presenting to the attendings but practice makes better ofc!!

anyway, im trying my best to balance life & work so ofc i’m participating in houston restaurant week :p all the food has been amazing so far, and their portions are actually huge. also, im trying to stay as active as possible, but work 1: me 0 😴

… and just like that, 2 weeks of swing shifts flew by!! 🫪

schedule: 4 days/week, 11a-9p
this team is mainly responsible for: seeing ER consults from 11a-11p, receiving sign-outs from OR & inpatient teams, and doing post-op check on admissions from same day surgeries!

seeing consults +/- consenting for surgeries was fun, however, i enjoyed being on the inpatient team more as of right now. these next 2 weeks are my OR block, so i’ll actually see the procedures that i’m consenting my patients for! how exciting :)

hi everyone! 🌱

i just wanted to give an update on my first full week of orientation & inpatient. i’m enjoying it so far, and everyone on the team has been so welcoming and supportive :)

there is a huge learning curve that i’ve already expected before coming into this job. the biggest challenge is getting out of the student mindset and taking full responsibility of being a provider. this is tougher than i had imagined. thankfully, i have an amazing team & colleagues who are willing to push me into being (un)comfortable with the unknowns. 😆

the goal is to take it day by day & get exposure to as many things as possible! hope to update you guys another time! 🤍 by @vanngopac

after months of driving back and forth to houston, interviews, and anxiously waiting, i finally landed a job in my dream city & specialty🍀

i wanted to share some interview questions that i think would be helpful to prepare for during your job search! for behavioral questions, use the STAR method (situation, task, action, result) and you’ll be solid :D

i also want to say thank you for all the kind words along the way! i’m so grateful and excited to keep sharing this new chapter with y’all!! ✨

hi everyone, happy valentine’s day! 💌 to continue with the studying tips, i wanted to share how i studied for the PANCE🩺

full disclosure: my program had us do a 4-day review with PA dwayne williams (author of PPP) in december, so i felt like 25 days was good for me! if you don’t have the time or the resources for that, please don’t worry! if you’ve passed all your EORs, passed your EOC, and did well on your PACKRATs, you should be so good for the PANCE if you just keep doing what you’re already good at 🤍

✨ 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐄𝐎𝐑? this is how i studied for mine!

📚🙇‍♀️ now that i’ve had time to fully reflect on what worked best for me during my clinical year, i wanted to share my experience studying for EORs. at the beginning of clinical year, they felt like one of the scariest parts about pa school, but as time went on, with the right tools and an organized approach, i was able to tackle them more efficiently and with much more confidence.

please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need clarification!! i’d be more than happy to help 🥹 i hope this helps someone take things one step at a time, create a study plan that works for them, and build confidence throughout their clinical year 🤍
