🏥 Private medical benefits
🎄 And Christmas gifting… which I am VERY happy about!!

I won’t lie, the constant context switching can be hard. One minute I’m deep in something legal, the next I’m ordering an Arsenal shirt, looking for a jewellery supplier or booking a flight to Monaco.

But it’s also one of the best things about what I do. No two clients are the same, no two days are the same, and I genuinely never know what’s going to land on my desk next.

And in the interest of saving myself approximately 20 minutes that I clearly don’t have this week… Chat made the picture 😂

I feel like “random things I did as a VA this week” needs to become a little series.

Finally back from a couple of back-to-back trips and realised Vantage Assist is officially 6 months old 🤍

Six months ago I was incredibly anxious about leaving the security of my corporate job and wondering whether starting my own business was a completely ridiculous idea.

Fast forward six months and I’ve built an incredible client base across boutique businesses, legal, sport and even found my way into the F1 world!

I’ve worked with some genuinely brilliant people, become fully booked and, most importantly, built a business that gives me the flexibility I wanted for my family without having to compromise on my ambition.

If anything, the last six months have made me even more ambitious about what Vantage can become. There are certain rooms I’d quite like to find my way into next…

Life lately, with a lot of Vantage in between 🤍

I’ve been a little quiet on here lately, mostly because work has been BUSY.

The last few weeks have included Christmas party planning, designing invites, sourcing signed Arsenal shirts, stepping into an EA role, prepping for events in New York, publishing on Substack, budget meetings, tech integrations, system audits and lots of looking at how things could work better - plus some very lovely client merch arriving along the way!

Alongside work, I’ve celebrated my birthday, taken my daughter for a day out in London, spent sunny days at the lake with my family and managed the occasional afternoon working from a sun lounger.

When I started Vantage Assist, the biggest reason was Sloane. I wanted to keep doing work I genuinely enjoyed, but with the flexibility to always be there when she needs me and for the bits of family life I don’t want to miss.

A few months in, it’s busy, varied and the last few weeks have flown by without much making it onto here… but it’s doing exactly what I hoped it would.

Work I genuinely enjoy, with a little more freedom around it 🤍

Last week I tried hot Pilates for the first time and loved it so much I went back for hot Sculpt the next day! This week, I was back again! And that’s when I realised how different life looks now.

By the time I’d dropped Sloane at nursery and finished my class, I still wouldn’t have even made it into the office if I was doing my old commute.

Starting Vantage Assist was never about leaving a job I loved. It was about creating more flexibility, getting those hours back each day and building a life that worked better for our family.

Looking back, I’m so happy I took the leap. More time with Sloane, more flexibility and a little more time for me too 🥰❤️🔥

Back from such a beautiful, fulfilling, happy (and chaotic) family holiday!

It was so nice to switch off, focus on family time, eat and drink what I wanted, and see my toddler wake up every morning desperate to get to the kids’ pool.

It wasn’t until I was in the gym this morning, thinking about posting on socials, that I realised this morning was the first time in over a week that I’d been by myself and had a moment to reflect.

At this stage of life, holidays aren’t really about peace and quiet. They’re a different kind of chaos. A wonderful, exhausting, joy-filled chaos ❤️

This was my first holiday since launching Vantage Assist and as a business owner, I expected to come back feeling rested, reflective and full of profound insights.

The reality?!.. I spent my days chasing my toddler around with sun cream, asking if she wanted a snack or some water, playing with her and her toys between pool sessions and making sure she didn’t get so overtired that we’d end up dealing with a meltdown.

And we had the best time!

Some of her one-liners will stay with us forever, and I can’t wait to tell her about all the things she did “that time we went to Greece.”

When I’m 80 years old and reflecting on my life, being in that pool with her is exactly where my memories will take me.

So, long story short, I’m not the person who comes back from holiday full of motivation, clarity and fresh ideas, feeling rested and calm.

But during that hour to myself at the gym, I realised how grateful I am for what I’ve built with Vantage Assist and the incredible clients I get to work with every day.

They inspire me constantly, challenge me to learn new things, expand my knowledge and help me become better at what I do.

As I’ve been getting back up to speed this week, I’ve been able to appreciate that both cups feel full.

My family cup is full.

My work cup is full.

It really does take stepping away from one to realise how much you value it when you come back.

So if you’re in the stage of life where holidays don’t feel restful and are simply a different kind of chaos… Me too ❤️

A little reminder to take time for yourself on holiday. The emails can wait. The laptop can wait. Even the kids pool can wait for an hour! I used to play tennis as a kid, so it was fun picking up a racket again and doing something just for me and my husband🎾🤍

Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself - and your business, is step away for a little while.
