Belated life update that Joni and I are still alive we’ve just been busy bc I started a new job (and went back to school and I’m in 5 fantasy football leagues and 2 book clubs and everyone is getting married and I started an etsy business for some reason) by @vanvrankenstein

Joni got to come home last night. She got sick again and it’s been terrible. Joni’s been through a LOT in the past year or so and this was the worst one of them all for my little medical marvel of a cat. I thought I was about to lose her and got ready to say goodbye. But my girl is a fighter. I don’t know how long I’ll get to have Joni with me in her earthly form…and it’s weird to think about because even though I’ve only had her for 4 years I don’t remember my life without her. The recovery ahead will be hard but I’m grateful for every minute of it and every minute that I have her by my side. This has all been really hard. Joni is a special cat. by @vanvrankenstein

Today, I’m celebrating my strength. I’ve learned so much about myself and what I can handle. Not drinking freed me from cycles of toxicity, made me feel more human, and made me a better friend. Life is harder when you’re not numbing yourself out or silencing the noise (and there’s a lot of noise these days), but it’s also more honest and I’ll take that. Souped some 35mm film (mostly dish soap, lime juice, and packaged margarita mocktail) and told @swimmiefish to bring my camera (this time my “vintage” rebel 2000) with him when he was shooting his friends @magdalenabay (I had to stay home with joni who was recovering from surgery). Creative directed from afar and love how some of these turned out!

This year hasn’t been kind to me, but my partner has. No special occasion or anniversary; just felt like saying I appreciate him. Always holding my hand through the emergency vet visits, health scares, panic attacks, and everything else the universe has thrown at me this year. And he’s a good cat dad.
