This caption gonna be less professional as that last one. Im excited for this. I've always been inspired by the MTV Unplugged series. That and the VH1 storytellers. Artists talking about their songs in depth. What the music means to them and their process in making the music, has always been fascinating to me. I've been looking for a while for a venue to put an event that does just that. Living room vibes... this will hopefully be the first of many. I appreciate @ahfsouth and @batteriesoldseparately for helping put this together. The purpose of the night is in observance of suicide prevention month. What better way to come together and get perosnal then through expression. Especially in a world that loves to minimize thought and feeling. These are some of the most talented friends I know. Im a big fan of each and everyone of these acts. Im finna edit this post here and there so get used to me yapping like always.

It has been five years from my final curated ‘Bento Box’ since the pandemic…and I couldn’t be more blessed to how it went Wednesday night. I’d like to thank all the producers, performers, musicians, artists & illustrators and SUPPORTERS that came out to the first BEATS N’ NEEDLES - a creative meetup hub that is part playground & networking for Hip-Hop and art lovers; marking the the first event of its kind to feature an Open Scratch Deck with a turntable built for scratching in between producer sets!

Born to two immigrant parents, Carlos Castillo grew up in a household where rhythm, color, and curiosity intertwined. His earliest memories are filled with the soundtracks his mother loved—Motown grooves, Latin jazz rhythms, soulful melodies, and the timeless voices of Bob Marley and Frank Sinatra. She introduced him to music as something more than just sound—it was expression, emotion, and identity.

He adopted the moniker VASH THE STAMPEDE from the anime series, Trigun. Drawing inspiration from icons such as J Dilla, Pharrell, Kanye West, Q-Tip, and 9th Wonder, Vash blends soulful textures with forward-thinking production, creating music that feels nostalgic yet modern. His sound reflects a lifelong fascination with both science and creativity—a balance between structure and freedom, calculation and chaos.

Whether he’s behind the mic or curating the aesthetics that surround his music, Vash the Stampede is an artist driven by curiosity and self-expression.
