Music I love that you won’t hear at my Your Shot set: Lola Young -Conceited.
@lolayounggg

I’ve only just started listening to Lola Young for the first time half way through this competition for my own joy, and the melody and beats of this particular song captured my whole attention 🥰🧡

Meeting One done~ 25.05.2026

Our first meeting was so very exciting-SO exciting in fact I got caught up chatting to my fellow cohort and missed out on a gift from JBL 🤭 (quite a few from my class did- No one was expecting this many finalists for Perth!)

“Yet to the heroes humble relief, the prophecies of old have borne fruit. The blessing, only delayed…Thus upon the second week of Ťune, a great treasure was delivered unto the ears of our eager hero..
Thank you JBL”

Thanks so much for the gift @jblaustralia
I hope you don’t mind if I paint them 👀 they’re a perfect blank canvas! 🧡

The time between selection day and day one of Yourshot 2026 flew by so fast! Now it feels like time’s going even faster as we hit week 4 and I’m home unwell. So I’m taking a good long look at just how far I’ve made it so far and wow- even though it’s been so hard to keep up a pace my gait isn’t fit for, I wouldn’t have been able to do this a year ago…so that’s already a massive win! I’m learning more about music, getting more confident to create things I’m passionate about, I’m having fun regardless, I don’t need much more than that (… maybe aside for a lil deck wizard to sit on my desk to encourage and coach me on DJ-ing 😂😭)

(Special thank you to sponsors and venues: @yourshotau @alphathetaaus @jblaustralia @redbullau @smirnoff @thehenhouse @thecourtperth )

✨Awh Hey there Internet, I’m VAVA!✨
Recently I entered a beginner DJ competition called Your Shot, and to my (humble) surprise I’ve been selected as a finalist! We’ve just finished our first week on this wild adventure and we’re really getting into the thick of it starting tomorrow.

“Hey, so what is ‘Your Shot’ exactly” I hear you say? @yourshotau is a competition for DJ’s with little to NO experience (that’s me!) to be trained by industry professionals over 5 weeks, finishing in an epic finals weekend where we play our own curated sets for the public and for each other. The winner from the weekend then goes on to play their set at one of the world’s biggest festivals, and everyone has the chance to walk away from the competition with big opportunities under their belts!

I’m honestly so jazzed just for this opportunity to learn, and I’m going to give it everything my chronically-(s)ill(y) ass has got! Come along for the adventure, join in the fun and I can’t wait to share the progress with you all! 🧡

(A big thank you goes out to the sponsors that make a competition like this accessible and possible for us all 🫶@yourshotau @jblaustralia @alphathetaaus @smirnoff @redbullau ) taken in Perth, Western Australia by @vava.vox
