got to take Connor Rust and @brendan.luther out for a day that started glassy and found some wind. Absolute joy to be out there with those guys, but the fish were determined to keep Connor from getting the cobia he'd been working to hook up for a while. Plenty of shots (even more off camera), but persistence usually pays off in fishing and Connor and Brendan both got some eats because of that commitment. Great time being out there with you guys - and even if we don't get the same number of shots next time, we'll working on our closing percentages. Can't wait to do it again.

What started as a sight-fishing opportunity turned into one of the wildest fly-fishing fights I’ve ever witnessed. When this giant cobia showed up, we knew it was special—but we didn’t know we’d be dealing with a reel that came off the rod mid-fight.

Huge congratulations to @flyfshr327 for landing what may be the world-record-length cobia on fly. We’ve submitted an application to the IGFA for a tie, which would make Cathy a co-owner of the world record.

This fish was fought and landed from a @jonesbrothersmarine boat, and the fish was connected with @cortlandline IGFA tippet, available locally at @oceans_east

Got the chance to get out early with Oliver Sherren and his brother @macleansherren today in an effort to beat the wind. We did not beat the wind. It was a brutal ride out and back. Clarity wasn’t great. We cut the trip a little short for safety reasons. But it all came together with this pig of a redfish on a @templeforkoutfitters Moment 8wt that Oliver delivered to the perfect spot. His first redfish on fly. His first time a fish took him to the backing. All on the man’s birthday. So glad to be out there with him and Mac even with the brutal winds. Even when they're aware of you, it's tough not to take your shot. @big_ben_65 and his Dad, Rich, went out and pulled some big, strong cobia into the boat on a gorgeous day on the water. This one, however, was not so easy to convince. by @vbbackwater

Father and Son out for their first time sight-casting to cobia. @big_ben_65 had us under the "first-cast curse" when he started off the morning strong, but we ended up with a lot of shots, and Rich (Dad) brought us home with the big fish. We just missed the double at the end to split the money on the first, most, and biggest bet. It was a great day on the water, and I'm looking forward to getting out there with these guys again.

Fly fishing isn’t magic — it’s just fishing. There’s no silver bullet in a fly rod, the “perfect” fly, or a slightly tighter loop. The anglers who consistently catch fish are the ones who understand water movement, tides, bait, structure, and where fish want to be.
