💗🎀 CAN YOU TELL IT’S OCTOBER?! 🎀💗

Our Rescue 14 crews are wearing pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 💗🚑🌸 Throughout October, you’ll see our providers sporting their pink tees as a reminder of the importance of awareness, support, and standing together for those affected by breast cancer.

But pink wasn't the only thing bringing smiles to Rescue 14 this weekend! 🐾💖 We also enjoyed a visit from Josie, an 8-year-old bully pup and the newest therapy pup! 🐶💕 And let’s just say, she came dressed to impress!

At Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad (VBVRS) — Rescue 14, we’re proud to serve our community, support meaningful causes, and celebrate the little moments that bring us together. Whether we’re responding to calls, raising awareness, or sharing a smile with a special visitor, it’s all part of being there for our neighbors. 💚🚑

💚 Neighbors Saving Neighbors.

🚑 Want to be part of our VBVRS family? We’re always happy to connect with those interested in volunteering with Virginia Beach EMS, whether in an operational or support role!

🚑💚 CONGRATULATIONS, JENNI “JENNIMAC” MCFARLAND! 💚💛

We are proud to share that Jenni McFarland, Captain of Administration for Rescue 14, has been named a 2026 Neptune Festival Hometown Hero representing the Virginia Beach Department of Emergency Medical Services.

For more than 23 years, Jenni has served the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad. Since joining in 2003, she has been a cornerstone of Rescue 14, bringing the same energy, passion and dedication she had on day one.

Jenni is an active EMT-B and has earned VBEMS honors including Unit Commendations, Class Act Awards and a Significant Incident Award. She is a certified CPR Instructor, member of the VBVRS Honor Guard, and supports Rescue 14 through its Annual Awards Banquet, Annual Oyster Fest, and recruitment, membership, recognition and retention efforts.

Her service reaches beyond the rescue squad. Jenni gives back through Nimmo United Methodist Church, mentors students at First Colonial High School, and has decades of leadership in Scouting America, including the District Award of Merit.

At Rescue 14, we know Jenni as someone who leads by example, has a servant leader’s heart, encourages others, gives back and keeps showing up.

It is an honor and privilege to see our Captain represent Virginia Beach EMS and our very own VBVRS as a 2026 Neptune Festival Hometown Hero.

🚑 NOW IT’S TIME FOR RESCUE 14 TO SHOW UP FOR HER!

📅 Saturday, September 26, 2026
⏰ 11:30 AM–1:00 PM
📍 Neptune Festival Grand Parade
🌊 Virginia Beach Oceanfront — 16th Street to 31st Street

Come out and cheer on Jenni as she represents Virginia Beach EMS and Rescue 14! Let’s make sure she hears us cheering! 💚

JenniMac, congratulations! Rescue 14 is proud of you and proud to have you represent our squad and Virginia Beach EMS.

🐾💚 Sometimes the best part of the shift has four paws! 🐾

Over the last couple of days, our Rescue 14 crews have had the privilege of spending some time with the Virginia Beach EMS Therapy Dogs — and we’re pretty sure the dogs enjoyed the visits just as much as we did! 🐶💚

Whether it’s a quick break, a little playtime, or simply a few minutes of unconditional love, these furry friends have a special way of bringing smiles to our crews and brightening the day. 🐾😊

We’re proud to serve our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year — and we’re always looking for more neighbors who want to be part of what we do.

💚 POSITIVE THINKING DAY 💚

A positive thought can change a moment.
A positive attitude can change a day.
And one person willing to step up can make a difference in someone’s life.

At the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, we believe in the power of showing up with a positive attitude—especially when our neighbors need us most. 🚑

Our volunteers work together, encourage one another, learn from every experience, and continue moving forward because we know that every call is an opportunity to help, every shift is an opportunity to serve, and every person matters.

Positive thinking isn't about pretending every day is easy. It's about believing that together, we can face the challenges, support each other, and make a difference.

And maybe your positive thought today is:

“I can make a difference, too.”

Volunteering with VBVRS is an opportunity to learn, grow, serve your community, and become part of a team that truly cares. You can build friendships, gain skills, create memories, and make an impact that lasts far beyond a single shift.

Whether you're ready to volunteer now or have simply been thinking about it, we'd love to have you learn more about becoming part of VBVRS. vbvrs.org 💚

💚 **National Day of Encouragement** 💚

Today is a great reminder that sometimes the smallest words of encouragement can make the biggest difference.

A simple “You’ve got this.”
A “Thank you for what you do.”
A helping hand when someone needs it most.
Those moments matter. 💚

At the **Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad**, we see encouragement in action every day. Our volunteers show up for their neighbors, support one another, and serve our community when people need help the most.

And maybe today is the day you need a little encouragement yourself:

**You can make a difference. You can learn something new. You can serve your community. You can be part of something bigger than yourself.**

If you've ever thought about volunteering with Virginia Beach EMS, consider this your sign. 🚑

Whether you're interested in becoming an operational member or supporting the squad in another way, **there's a place for you at VBVRS.**

🇺🇸✨**SEPTEMBER 11 — NEVER FORGET**🇺🇸✨

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and we honor the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

Firefighters. EMTs. Paramedics. Police officers. Dispatchers. And countless others who answered the call to serve.

Their courage reminds us that **service is more than a word—it is a commitment to others.** ❤️💙 💛💚

As we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we also recognize the men and women who continue to serve their communities every day.

At the **Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad**, we are proud to carry that spirit of service forward—answering calls, neighbors saving neighbors, and being there when our community needs us.🚑

👉**Join us. Join our team. Become part of our family.**
Make a difference in your community and be part of something bigger than yourself.

🚑 Extending the Life of Our Fleet—and Every Donation

Two Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad ambulances are headed back to the manufacturer for remounting. After providing 170,000–180,000 miles of service, each ambulance body will be refurbished and installed on a new Ford chassis.

By reusing these ambulance bodies, we are saving approximately $200,000 per truck—$400,000 total—while continuing to provide our volunteers with dependable, modern emergency vehicles.

We expect both units to return by the end of the year, helping us maintain our fleet of 10 ambulances serving the citizens and visitors of Virginia Beach.

Interested in volunteering or supporting our mission with a donation? Visit VBVRS.org.

Thank you to our community for your continued trust and generous support!
