Artemis II astronauts suggested naming a lunar crater “Carroll” as a tribute to mission commander Reid Wiseman’s late wife. Carroll Wiseman (‘98, ‘99) earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the VCU School of Nursing. 🐏 She worked in pediatric care, touching many lives and leaving a lasting impact both here on Earth and beyond. 💫

Rooted in the Akan tradition, Sankofa reminds us to look to the past for wisdom as we build the future. The Sankofa Pinning Ceremony brings together @VCU students, alums, faculty and staff to celebrate new beginnings, honor those who paved the way and strengthen the connections that build community.💛🖤

This year, we also commemorate the 75th anniversary of the desegregation of Richmond Professional Institute — one of VCU’s predecessor institutions — honoring the courage and perseverance of those who helped open doors for generations of Rams to come.
Join us as we celebrate our history, welcome the newest members of the Ram family and continue building a legacy rooted in connection, belonging and community. 💫
