Rewind: Vanessa DeSilvio

Last year, @vdesilvio shared this with @thepraisepursuit while reflecting on playing Photina in The Chosen.

“I knew the story of the Samaritan Woman at the Well but I had never seen her story told the way The Chosen did. When I read the script of the scene at the well, I was drawn to her journey. She starts off as a guarded, hurt person, but through her interaction with Jesus she feels seen and loved, no matter her past. She gets to experience the truth of Jesus Christ - no matter what we have done, in Jesus we are free. For me, as an actor, this role has such a beautiful transformation that I knew would be such a joy to play.

Playing Photina has helped me recognize that, just like Jesus was waiting for Photina at the well, He is waiting for us. And it’s OK if we come back to the well again and again and again to receive His forgiveness and comfort. He doesn’t expect us to only have one meeting with Him and to be forever changed. When we repeat the same mistake, when we say we’re sorry but we do it again, when we try 100 times to change, it’s OK because all Jesus wants is for us to keep returning to Him.“

Thank you @vdesilvio - we are honored to share your powerful words.

Your performance in @thechosentvseries was so deeply impactful. 🙏

Tonight’s #theChosen watch party featured my episode from season 1 - and to watch my director, @dallasjenkins offer his commentary and STILL be moved to tears was so humbling.
I’m forever grateful for this role and how it has positively impacted my career, my faith, my purpose. But also how this scene continues to impact viewers in all walks of life and faith has been so so fulfilling.

Now get caught up on all 5 seasons of The Chosen before season 6 releases on Amazon Prime November 15!
