life slowed down just for a moment… unfortunately at the cost of the flu, but maybe that’s the point?
If you don’t make time for rest, your body will force you to find the time.
2 moves within the year, a rapidly growing dream career, raising a puppy, and travel… somehow the prioritization of balance got lost in the shuffle. The flu was a good reminder that I need to find it again 🌱 by @vedagail

A week in Texas & New Mexico 🌵
To make a long story short I met @k.ande almost a decade ago in Miami Beach while on vacation, and many years later (2023) when I needed some company on my cross-country drive to my new life in the Pacific North West, Kristen didn’t hesitate to join me when I proposed the idea. This was a drive that I didn’t know would hold so much space for grief, that would offer an opportunity for personal growth and self-awareness, and gift both of us a connection and deep gratitude for one another. She booked her flights (she was living in California at the time) and I picked her up in Toronto, we stayed at my best friend’s cottage in Northern Ontario for a few nights playing board games, swimming, eating good food, and laughing; then began our trek— we talked for 5 days straight, losing our voices by the end of each day and somehow that didn’t stop us from talking even more. That drive was healing. That drive was everything my soul needed, and I will be forever grateful for your presence on that journey Kristen.
So when she asked me a year later to be a bridesmaid as she married the love of her life, it was a simple yes, and I felt (and still feel) so incredibly honoured.
That week has now come and gone— a bachelorette trip with some of the most amazing women. I haven’t laughed that hard in ages, and who knew that wearing funky wigs to a local dive bar on karaoke night could be such a bonding experience. I love all you girls so much 😭
A beautiful ceremony, beautiful vows, and an even more beautiful future lies ahead of you two 🤍 @k.ande @eolumpas, I cannot wait to see you up here Canada next xx

Happiest Birthday to my best friend ❤️🌿🏔️🪿 by @vedagail

Turks Part 2: On February 19th my dad & Rose got a message about a puppy here in Grand Turk that was saved from a man who intended to drown her— “I don’t want her” he said with a bag of rocks slug over his back walking toward the water. (Infuriating. But a sad reality for some unlucky island dogs).

Michael and I had been talking a lot in the recent weeks about our ever-growing desire to adopt a dog from a rescue organization in British Columbia. So, as you can imagine as more details compounded (the local rescues on GT and Provo had no space to accept her, no fosters with room, etc) — this scenario started to feel like fate. Sort of like she found us. Like she needed us.

We then had a lot of work ahead of us to get her home to Vancouver... I’ll save the details but between getting papers, a dog carrier, and booking her on a flight to Provo that night to see a vet, get vaccinated and obtain more documents— SO many people came together to help make this all possible and we are eternally grateful, ESPECIALLY to Pauline with the TCSPCA over in Provo who kept her safe for a few days and got her into the vet for us 🥹

Despite having worms and a little bit of mange on her back toes and tip of her tail— she’s a healthy little pup, with a new mom and dad who are about to give her the most adventurous little West Coast life 🏔️

So friends and family, meet Fern 🌿
We chose the name after watching her explore with her curious nature and how she gravitated toward playing in the plants— an earthy name felt fitting.
Only later realizing the symbolism of a Fern is resiliency and new beginnings. Even more fitting 🤍 we love you so much already. by @vedagail

Turks Part 1: Our parents finally got married!!! 🩵
Over a decade of loving my bonus mom and brothers, the day was overwhelming with emotion as we bursted at the seams with love for each other. A chaotic, enormous, beautiful family that I feel so grateful to be a part of.

Rose, you were the most beautiful and hilariously easygoing bride. Ethan, Logan, Preston, Keaton, watching you all grow up into incredible men and brothers has been a profound privilege. And dad— G and I are so proud of you. You’re a tough man with a huge heart and the time we spend all together in this big yellow house means the world.
I love you all with my whole entire heart.
Congratulations @rnickel1968 & @staceyher may we spend many more decades together growing our family 💛 by @vedagail
