In a time where we are constantly moving, scrolling, and consuming, Doug Aitken’s @dougaitkenworkshop installation at NMACC @nmacc.india asks you to pause to simply be. As the lights flicker and pulse, the space begins to dissolve, drawing you into a surreal choreography of light and sound. Standing within the installation, you find yourself syncing with its rhythm, becoming part of a carefully orchestrated sensory opera. Aitken creates a heightened spatial awareness where time feels suspended, and the boundaries between body, light, and sound quietly blur. It is an immersive experience that doesn’t demand attention, but instead gently holds it touching you in ways that linger long after you step out of the room. taken in NMACC India Weekend by @vedikaseth

These Tyeb paintings evoke something in me — the line, the flat colour, and the emotion he paints with. It’s so surreal.

It’s almost like his canvases breathe before you do. The silence hits first — then the colours, then the weight of the figure. Tyeb doesn’t invite you into a scene; he pulls you into a feeling. A feeling that is unsettling but strangely familiar. A feeling you recognise somewhere deep in the stomach, where truth lives before language arrives.

Geeta Kapur once wrote that Tyeb works from a place where memory becomes form. And that is exactly what it feels like — as though he is painting not people, but the imprint they leave behind. His lines are not just outlines; they’re fractures, decisions, boundaries, histories. Every mark feels intentional — severe, almost — as if any extra stroke would be dishonest.

Tyeb’s palette looks simple, almost minimal. But it is incredibly strategic. He uses colour the way a surgeon uses a scalpel. His flat colours are not flat at all; they hold tension. They hold the violence he witnessed, the dislocation he lived through, the chaos he refused to dramatise. Tyeb “disciplines the image,” giving brutality a minimal, controlled language — and somehow that makes it even more powerful.

Tyeb stands alone on the edge of Indian modernism, carrying its contradictions with a kind of quiet dignity.

And yet, for all this restraint, there is emotion everywhere.
Not loud.
Not dramatic.
But heavy.
Dense.

People often ask me “why art?”
And the truth is… I think art chose me.

In a world that’s loud, chaotic, and constantly shifting, art is the one thing that makes me stop.
It forces me to pause… to look… to actually see.

Art asks you to pay attention—to observe, to search, to question, to discover who you are beneath all the noise.
And more than anything, it urges you to feel.

That’s why art.
Because in the middle of everything that overwhelms me, art brings me back to myself. by @vedikaseth

A great work of art does not demand attention — it steals it.

As rain poured on a gloomy Sunday afternoon, five girls make it to the Bhau Daji Lad Museum just in the nick of time — the museum shuts at five, so we rush to buy the tickets.
We tumble inside, laughing, damp from the rain — like kids in a candy store, eyes wide, hearts racing, the widest smiles on our faces. We run up to the second floor and find ourselves in line for what promises to be the experience of a lifetime: Caravaggio.

A notorious character — wild, temperamental, and brilliant — Caravaggio lived like his art: intense, conflicted, full of contrast. He painted ordinary people as saints, and saints as ordinary people, bathing them all in that piercing chiaroscuro that made the sacred feel human and the human feel divine. His paintings don’t just show light; they breathe it.

And then — Mary Magdalen in Ecstasy.

We come face to face. And as it happens sometimes with great art, all the chatter in the room begins to fade. The shuffling feet, the murmurs, even the sound of the rain outside — gone.
It’s just me and her.
Time transcends.

I am clutching my stomach because something strange stirs inside me — a pull, a recognition, a quiet ache. There’s pain in her surrender, but also peace. The kind of peace that feels almost forbidden. Her face tilts upward, her body suspended between agony and grace, and I realise this isn’t about religion — it’s about longing. About being seen, touched, undone.

In that moment, I relate to her — as Magdalene, and as woman. We share something — the beauty of human emotion, the quiet complexity of feeling too much. I relate to her, this woman painted in 1606, almost 419 years ago, and yet she feels closer to me than anyone in that room.

For a brief, impossible moment, I’m not looking at a painting.
I’m meeting something eternal — something that lives in both of us. by @vedikaseth

✨ Run, run to your dream… ✨

Stepping into a world of fantastical realism crafted by Madhviji feels like walking through a living poem.
For those who know me, you’ve probably heard me endlessly gush about her work—how it stirs something so raw and emotional within me.

The last three days have been nothing short of a dream, and here’s a little glimpse into it. ❤️ #thegallerygirl by @vedikaseth
