New year… same me. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing! I’m still not anywhere close to where I’d like to be, but where I am right now isn’t so bad :).
I’m past a quarter of a century now and the universe hasn’t become any less of an enigma to me but I watch my world grow with less caution, knowing I have a good community to go to for directions if I get lost, and if we both don’t know, at least I won’t be alone as we figure it out together :).
While the times have gotten scary I’ve found that the compassion within my companions has inspired a type of hope to help grow this network of theys, gays and tran-nays (it’s how I pronounced it in my head) and I’m hoping to continue to channel that energy into creating more moments of happiness, growth and kindness not just for myself but everyone who surrounds me. Today I’m going to remember something very important to me. My 1st 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ pride. I’m going to remember how beautiful it was to see the streets lined with a million colors and shades of souls truly proud to be who they are and being apart of them. My chosen family made this happen, the people in these photos mean more to me than they’ll ever know. I’m healing something very frail and scarred and it was made possible by the kindness that this world taught me was near impossible. This country cannot take away the fact that I’m what makes the American dream possible. And many like me are what continue to carry that legacy. This is it @hardjewelry community and friends! My name is Lí I’m 25 years old and I never took a traditional art class in my life but I love fashion, punk culture and being creative so fuck it! Here’s one of my 3 submissions to the #hardjewelrycontest ! This one has got to be my favorite and I even made up two cool names! “Devil’s Advocate” or “Tongue Tied is a Silver/Leather Bolo Tie necklace and it’s made with myself in mind 🤭😘! My handwriting is ass but the notes let you know we’re going for a 3D anatomically correct slack jawed skull with a mobile jaw hinge and slit tongue!
The chain can be flexible stainless steel or a red/black Leather addition (I prefer red to resemble a tongue). The skull has a dangly piercing like the hellhound piece HJ already has and sharp teeth. The flattened skull in the back helps it rest better on the chest and my favorite part are the two ending pieces on the bottom being the classic Anarchy symbol coming out of the mouth 😈. What would you call this piece? by @vedjagames

Here’s one of my 3 submissions to the #hardjewelrycontest ! I suck at names but I decided to call her “Got You Under My Skin” Pendant/Locket piece and it’s made with the Lovers in mind 🥰😘! My handwriting is ass but the notes let you know we’re going for a 3D anatomically correct heart with a possible red stone in it sealed away, inside a clear tomb of a rib cage! The pendant opens up so you can put your loved one’s picture inside and the back of the piece can give you an option to engrave it 😉!! This piece is very intricate but versatile, a possible necklace, ring or bracelet or EVEN ALL 3! Would you wear it? by @vedjagames

Here’s one of my 3 last minute submissions to the #hardjewelrycontest ! I suck at names but I decided to call her “Cathedral Web Windows” and they’re made with the goth Latina ladies in mind 🤩😘! My handwriting is ass but the notes let you know we’re going for a 3D spider crawling on top of its’ H and J centered web 🕷️🕸️. The letters will be see through with red “stained glass” to give it that cathedral feel ⛪️. Lemme know what y’all think :)! Would you wear it? by @vedjagames

I’m 25 today. I never expected to get to this age. Over a year ago I sat in my bedroom alone, filled with things I can’t throw away, remnants of those who told me that I was loved in different ways. They only remind me now that time keeps moving forward, even if I don’t want it to. I’ve had a lot of growing up to do in 5 years, having to keep myself grounded regardless of my crumbling foundation. They’d call me an “old soul”, constantly able to withstand the theatrics of tragedy around me with dry wit and humor. When I make mistakes I scramble to fix it on my own, feeling another scar etching itself into my mind. I think it easy to forget that it’s my first time being alive and that I’m not alone. I don’t always make mistakes. I’m not only created by bad memories and regrets.
Every time I’ve chosen someone to love they give me a new lesson, whether it’s good or bad… it’s still necessary for me to move forward. Seeking out my identity has led to a beautiful community of individuals that make me understand that I can strive to do more than just survive.
My identity, sexuality, dreams and passions are validated, allowing me to feel like I can actually take up space and exist without the guilt of trying to appease those around me when I am with my friends. Thank you for allowing me to process my doubts in a safe space, making my voice matter and for giving me the strength to continue. I love you all 💙.
