💗So proud to finally share my portrait of the beautiful @rachelbrosnahan as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. A delight because I’m actually a huge fan of the show and this character. The final image was made into a mural in NYC (2nd St & 1st Ave) to promote Season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel which premiered February 18 on Prime Video.
.
I wanted to portray Midge in her power. Performing stand-up, a curl in her lip while she let's the dust of realization settle on a hard truth. ‘I’m a woman – so fuck that!'
.
This feels extra special as I just celebrated 10 years in NY. I left Miami at 18 to be an artist, 10 years later I've finally made my mark, in big bright neon pink letters, no less. Hopefully the first of many. So, if you are in the city walking past 2nd and 1st ave, look up!

So, who is the mind behind this radical newspaper? @ronaldwimberly is an incredible artist, author and collaborator. In addition to LAABs kickstarter video, I’ve included some of Ronald’s work from published books ‘Black History in it’s Own Words’ and ‘Prince of Cats’.
.
If you are someone that is really digging LAAB and sees the vision behind the work, I would highly recommend checking out the link in my bio and @ronaldwimberly personal patreon page. Especially if you are a BIPOC creative looking for an alternate and/or supportive way of learning in this industry. As an advocate of alternate ways of learning myself I deeply believe @patreon is the future and plan on releasing my own by the end of this year.
.
I am so lucky to call Ron a dear friend. And even luckier when he shares some of his wisdom with me (like the quote above). ‘Hard boundaries and taking chances’ is so so important. If you are reading this, I hope it helps you, like it helped me, with whatever you are working through this week. xoxo 🌈✨ by @vee_vees

I'm so honored to be part of LAAB Magazine no.2! LAAB #2 concerns itself with food, waste, compost, and sustainability, as well as broader issues from media consumption to cultural appropriation. Are you what you eat? What does our waste reveal about us, as individuals and societies?
.
Here’s a quick teaser about my comic, it’s based on a real conversation I had with @ronaldwimberly over dinner (pre-covid life). I am often most inspired by the folks around me and Ron is no exception. 💘
.
In this process video, I am drawing my character dipping a french fry. I wanted to mix-up the angles to keep the composition interesting and saw it as an opportunity to place a double meaning. If you need some help, imagine the character is dunking the french fry in some wet ass ketchup. jajaja 💦
.
Check out my highlights for a longer process video and breakdown. And if you’d like to see my complete featured comic order your copy in my bio link. 💦 by @vee_vees
