Born in Northern France, the drummer Veeko has built a musical world of his own, one where jazz, hip-hop and cinema meet. For him, musicality has always come first, even before technique. That conviction shaped House Of Birds, his 2025 album of striking maturity, which puts the drums front and center and sets the guiding line of his music. He has collaborated with Theodora, and his path eventually led him to represent France as a musician at the closing ceremony of the Milan Cortina Olympic Games. Recorded at La Petite Halle in Paris for the Qwest TV On Stage sessions, his set opens with “Amistad” and takes in “Regrets”, “Agility” and “Rose Piscine”. by @veekomorlet

Veeko’s relationship with music is a deeply moving one. Hailing from Northern France, the drummer devoted himself to studying at the local conservatory before cultivating a rich and distinctive musical imagination. Championed by fellow Lille native and piano sensation Sofiane Pamart, as well as collaborating with artists like Theodora, the young musician has crafted a diverse musical language that sits at the crossroads of jazz, hip-hop, and cinematic soundscapes. Having already performed alongside Pharrell Williams for both a short film and an advertising campaign, Veeko reached another milestone in 2025 with the release of House Of Birds, an album of striking maturity. Taking the stage at La Petite Halle in Paris as part of the Qwest TV On Stage sessions, the percussionist opens with the powerful "Amistad." While the title is the Spanish word for "friendship," it also evokes Steven Spielberg’s film Amistad and its powerful condemnation of the transatlantic slave trade. Equally nuanced, "Regrets" weaves together keyboards and melancholic minor harmonies to create an almost dreamlike atmosphere. The exhilarating, aptly titled "Agility" then showcases the ensemble at full strength—particularly saxophonist Ferdi—while further amplifying the performance’s cinematic scope. An artist well worth keeping a close eye on. by @veekomorlet
