Podcast 094 // Veer-Veer is a producer and DJ from Amsterdam who started out playing hands-on with records from the ‘90s and early 2000s. His sound is rooted in dub techno and built around rhythm and percussion — repetitive and stripped-back, the kind that keeps on rolling on the dancefloor. Hey! It’s been a bit quiet here, but there’s also not that much to tell. For those of you I still pop up for (nice that the algorithm wants to connect us), I just want to share that I’ve decided to continue to play under the name „Veer“ instead of „1022“. Feels closer to who I am and what‘s going on at the moment. Doesn’t change the world — but you’ve got to do what feels right, right?All that aside, I’m really grateful to be spinning some of my favorite records at @rivierarecords.de this Saturday, and playing in my (second) hometown, Salzburg, with @surge__yourself on the 16th of May. Something I’m particularly excited about is coming out in June, but more on that later.I’ve been trying to block out the noise and only be active on Instagram when it’s actually about music. After going down the production rabbit hole for a while now, I’ve realized that what gets created has nothing to do with what’s happening here. The art that comes from within is what really matters — and beyond sharing it, views and likes have nothing to do with the creative act. It might seem otherwise, but that’s because most of us are participating in the same game.Like I said, I’m trying to participate less, convinced it will draw me toward people and places that foster the same ideas.Anyhow, I hope to see some of you soon.
