A personal goal of mine is to explore more classic literature and expand my reading beyond my typical fantasy romance escapism. Here are a few classics I picked up on sale recently and the questions I hope to explore reading them. #classicliterature #bookstagram #tbr by @veesbooklore

*potential spoilers*
The first 75%:
- captured my attention deeply. I felt like screaming war cries for vengeance with Boudicca and her daughters.
- Historically accurate depictions of Iceni and Roman mythology and belief systems were woven into the prose, making this feel profoundly poetic, specifically Solina's POV.
- Boudicca and the Iceni rebellion led by a female warrior queen was epic.

The last 25%:
- Betrayal, Manipulation, perceptions of power dynamics, and Stockholm syndrome.
- felt difficult to psychologically relate to due to some uncomfortable decisions solina made to survive - however - it was still beautifully written and challenged me to empathize with the life or death decisions women in the classical era had to face.

Favourite quote - the wolf in sheep's clothing:

"In my father's house warriors would openly carry their weapons, speaking their minds without fear, settling scores with the sword. For the Iceni, Death is a king who announces himself, not a thief who lurks in the shadows. In Rome, all knives are hidden, and Death is spun on a web of smiles, cocooning the victim before the lethal sting."

Overall: 4/5

Checking in after Part One of Boudicca's daughter by Elodie Harper:

"May fear always be an enemy that passes you on the other side of the road. Greet him, but do not stop."

Meditative. Healing. Poetic. Female rage incarnate. I wanted to scream Iceni war cries in unison with the wolf tribe as they sought vengeance on the Romans that deeply wronged Solina and Bellenia.

Meeting little Senovara was an amazing surprise Easter egg and tie to the Wolf Den Trilogy. Can't wait to finish this one. ⚔️
