The Goobers. Ramona Cat, yes I do usually include the Cat when I address her, Phoebe, and the Goober in Chief, Winston. If you've met Winston, you know he takes his office as head Goober pretty seriously. He is out and about in the greater Raleigh area just about every weekend, promoting the good word of Goobers everywhere. Slobber provided free of charge.

Winston celebrated turning 4 today! He went to the @caryfarmersmkt helped me pick out some cardamom buns from @breadwaala checked out the Cary Park and sniffed all the things, met a big fluffy Bernese Mountain Dog named Otis, then on the way home he trotted through the Fuquay Farmers Market and we found a baker local to home and got some asiago sourdough from @thebreadlady_nc , sniffed at the ball pit and at all the dog things in Earth wise Pet, and even stopped in at @pawsitively_delicious_treat to grab some treats and managed to knock over less than expected while inside. First attempt at some pour paint for the office walls, which are still bare. Next time I need 3 solo cups of prepared paint not two. Interested to see what it will look like once I add the matte varnish but need to patiently wait for it to dry first. Crazy what you can do with a little acrylic craft paint, some silicone oil, solo cups and a heat gun.

With the end of 2025 now behind me, I have hope that 2026 will be better. There were days in 2024 and 2025 when I was sure I didn't even have the energy left to be angry or sad or frustrated or lonely or embarrassed or ashamed anymore with all the changes, natural, forced or otherwise. I wasn't sure Sophia or I would be seeing my Mom again, but Mom got better. And was able to come visit. So I have some pictures of the last days of 2025. Of the joys that made it possible to allow me to date things with the wrong year for the next few weeks. The reasons I have, and not just the reasons I have left. The most important reasons I have. Now I can look forward to teaching my daughter to drive. Trying to find an outlet for some creative ideas, and finding all the best BBQ I can in the area. And for everything else that comes after.

I think this is what the kids mean when they say someone has "main character energy". Ramona isn't even supposed to be on the counter. Also, Mom insists she doesn't like cats. Ramona said, "Hold my catnip, I got this".

5114 days ago, I became a Dad to the most amazing human being I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. On New Years Eve, in Tampa in 2010, this silly, smart, kind, beautiful, caring child was born. She has been here, for me, at times more than I have been here for her. She challenges me every single day, to be more thoughtful, more intentional, and more forgiving of myself. Every moment I have shared with her is a gift, that sometimes I have overlooked. But she is bright, empathetic, and so very smart. She surprises me at times with what she comes up with, and I wish I still held the optimism for the world that she does. She has always stood up for what she feels is right, and I hope she gets to use this super power to help herself and others in the future. She is stronger than I ever was as a teenager, and in some ways, stronger than I am even now. I chose this song for this post because it is a cover of her favorite song, by some British dudes.
