#11 Friends, lovers, passers-by anonymous: when I first started publishing my essays on here, I told myself that if I have enough to write about to be able to do this 11 times I’ll start taking my writing more seriously. Consistency was never my strongest virtue, yet here we are with my 11th essay, and the reason it took a while is actually because my writing efforts have now been diverted to not 1, not 2, but 3 different concepts for long-forms that I am working on simultaneously. I am, indeed, taking this more seriously now.Fertile is the mind that is no longer doused in the gasoline of self-doubt… How could I have possibly thought that I, the girl who has an opinion about everything, would ever run out of things to say?That said, I’m no longer dating my essays because I won’t be doing them on a monthly basis anymore, just as and when I feel like there’s something I want to say. Hope y’all like this one!! I deliberate on the surrender to my creative irregularities, a fitting farewell to this monthly ritual. x V by @velle_

3 years vegan (and teetotal) this November 🙏🌸🌷🌿💕People often ask me about the health benefits I’ve experienced since going plant-based, and I could talk about how my blood panels come back with every single marker in the ideal or optimum range, but the true benefit is a spiritual one. There is nothing like the joy of living in perfect resonance with our natural compassion for all living creatures, and the peace of living in ever-deepening reverence for Mother Nature.To celebrate my veganniversary, I had a cosy traditional Korean meal prepared for me at @greee_cheongdam, and made a donation of some special snackies for the lovely ladies at the @samuielephantsanctuary. I met these gentle giants soon after I began my vegan journey, and I live in eternal gratitude for the soul-healing medicine I received from them in that meeting. Swipe to watch Grandma (the oldest retiree at the sanctuary, born in 1958!) and her bestie Honey enjoy their special delivery of fresh cut fruit and a rice cake to celebrate! One question I get asked a lot is if I felt any pressure to pursue a more traditional career instead of a career in the creative arts, especially coming from an elite academic background.The truth is that there were probably people being dismissive or discouraging, but I barely recall any of it. I barely recall any of it, because if someone’s opinion does not help me achieve what I set out to achieve, I don’t give it an ounce of attention.
