‘Consider the trees which allow the birds to perch and fly away without either inviting them to stay or desiring them never to depart. If your heart can be like this, you will be near to the way.’~Zen SayingI am delighted to be included in this terrific show of portraits by @roger_lee_photographer of 29 talented local artists in their studios, The exhibition @sevenoakskaleidoscope includes photographs of us accompanied by a piece of our work. My studio, of course, is mainly outside co creating with nature, collecting treasure and communing with the trees. One of my favourite places is under the magnificent cedar tree. The cedar is the tree of faith and it helps our prayers go where they are most needed.I recently discovered that trees have ‘shoulders’ where their wounds are healed. Nature seems to encourage us to release the burdens that we have been shouldering, and to surrender our burdens to something with bigger shoulders. Much needed in this intense year of the fire horse! By letting go, there is space to allow the elemental power of the natural world to hold me. Cedar wood is known to bring healing, protection and abundance. Roger’s photo shows me moulding flax clay on the shoulder of a broken cedar tree branch to receive its imprint, and healing. In ‘Remembrance’ the charcoaled remains of a spruce tree are held, and supported by the cedar wood below, and the softening clay above, creating a new sense of belonging. Roger has a real knack of being relaxed but open to the unexpected. He was so up for me jumping on the gorgeous red vine leaves last autumn. I was quite shocked that landing on them wasn’t the soft landing I was expecting, but it was worth it for his great shots.(see slides no. 5 and 8). The other images are happy memories celebrating and honouring the cedar at the last summer solstice. And of course communing with the beloved spruce and her remains. Do come to the Private view on Thursday night 6-8 or there is an Artist talk on Wednesday 1st July. #groupshow #photography #cedar #belonging #exhibition Thank you @victoriagranville and @roger_lee_photographer for curating a terrific show by @venetianevill

‘Creativity takes courage’Henri Matisse The dear little spruce that I have been tending has sadly died - its needles burnt by those intense dry winds and I think lonely for its family too. I have witnessed and embodied the lands desolation, but also its potential, with elemental rituals, and thankfulness to the spruce for inspiring me with her resilience. I dipped last year’s cloth of forgiveness in the iron rich stream, before wrapping the grief, and love with flowers and clay offerings, and burying it under the torn roots at the foot of the little spruce. If I am feeling lost and unsure about life, the Hazel will hold me and any unresolved creative decisions, until I am ready to move forward. And the wise yew spirit reminds me to talk to the trees, sing to the roots, whisper to the breeze and listen to the birds especially owls, Ravens and buzzards. They have a remarkable way to recalibrate our sorrows to joy - to be welcomed by the blessing of the emerging dawn chorus after a rough night is often the best healing balmAnd when I feel out of alignment and disconnected from source and creative flow, I know that something in me is always in a cycle of becoming, and renewal. Just as the birds and trees absorb the raindrops, the gentle breeze and golden sunbeams, I’m gifted the Trees generous exhale and precious grounding, and the bird song frequency of delight. Process and presence lies at the heart of my art practice like a golden thread. When I am resting in an open space of not knowing, that contains the life, loss, memories, and songs of the trees, as well as the limitless possibilities, I get a glimpse of another dimension. The trees have provided sanctuary and stability for the birds to enjoy and absorb the vibration and resonance of their sweet song. So now the birds wrap the tree spirit in their wings for final flight home to join their family. And by the Waters edge I discovered the treasure of happy clusters of little baby spruces ready to take the place of their Ancestors.Thank you dear @hellakeevilceramics for taking the shot of me and sharing the deep connection with the land #spruce #alchemy #ritual #healing #belonging by @venetianevill

Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it.Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.Begin It Now.”GoetheHappy new moon in Aries ! Honouring a celebration of Gabriel’s Day and a mandala ritual walk to the peace pagoda last month. Gabriel is the messenger of hope, and new beginnings bringing us faith and strength in our connection to the divine . I feel incredibly grateful to have led the journey drumming, and connecting to the heartbeat of the earth, over Albert Bridge before they closed it for pedestrians. Thank you, dear @jofonseca7 for inviting us into your stunning home, where we sheltered from hail storms, meditated and created a water medicine to honour World water day. And thank you, dear @jo_hemmant for leading the invocation and blessing for the waters as we released our prayers into the Thames. Before continuing our journey through the park and the magnificent and undervalued wise plane treesOne of my favourite places in Battersea Park is the circle of Birch trees at the foot of the peace pagoda. Ruled by Venus the birch is a beacon of light teaching us how to soften to the winds of change ! In the freezing cold we cocreated a magical Mandala witnessed by the Golden rain Trees and bemused passers by. We carried the candles and moved around the trees lifting our lights and hearts up to the peace pagoda offering our prayers for peace and harmony. Knowing that our wishes would join many others from all over the world, and that these elemental gatherings in nature really make a difference to the planet and to us. Miracles happen when we cocreate with nature! Thank you to all involved who braved the freezing cold and to dear friends for supporting me and taking photographs of the event. I may be doing another one in Hyde Park when it’s warmer so do let me know if you’re interested in joining us #peace #remembering #sacred #light #healing #ritual #mandala #heartsong #birch #love #cyclesofnature #medicine #water #batterseapark #cocreation by @venetianevill

Equinox blessings to you as the sun reawakens the earth and the astrological New Year lights the fire of rebirth ! Welcoming the glorious birdsong, and captivating unfurling little buds, filling me with joy. It is World Water Day today, raising awareness of the basic rights of safe drinking water for everyone, and the need to free our rivers of pollution. Bless all the waters and those who tend to her. Happy memories of celebrating and clearing the sacred spring at St. Helens with wondrous @pulvers.apothecary and friends on the Gregorian New Year’s Day. On the equinox threshold I took flowers to the iron rich chaileybeate spring, and collected water to bring to the candle lit Mandala ritual for peace, balance and clarity I am cocreating at sunset in Battersea park this Wednesday. March 25th used to be known as St Gabriel’s Day. Angel Gabriel is the messenger of hope, guidance and new beginnings. He brings peace, patience and calm to ensure that communication is clear and truthful. We will meet at a dear generous @jofonseca7 place by the embankment. Then walk over Albert Bridge to a circle of birch trees at the foot of the Peace pagoda, where we will cocreate a mandala of hope. The birch tree symbolises new beginnings, She channels the light, and encourages us to move gently out of our comfort zone. We will meditate and create rituals on our journey to bring healing to the waters and land, releasing anything that stands in the way of us being a channel for peace. There are only a few places still available so do DM me if you’re interested in coming or in future ceremonies and peace rituals to be held in the London parks. Thank you lovely @_dorothywinter_healer for the gorgeous mugwort torch and whoever took the first photo of me enjoying the luminous connection💫💫#peace #remembering #sacred #light #equinox #healing #ritual #mandala #heartsong #birch #love #cyclesofnature #medicine #water by @venetianevill

‘Dust of the sea, in youthe tongue receives a kissfrom ocean night’ Pablo NerudaSalt is magical and ancient, and using it in blessings, purification rituals and prayers can amplify our healing intentions. I am incredibly grateful to my dear friend @_anne_norman in Australia for recommending salt footbaths to release negativity, and to ground me when my nervous system was activated, especially by solar flares. They have been a godsend!I told my magical creative earth sister @holly.graphic in America about the alchemy of the footbaths. And when my husband had a couple of painful procedures on his vocal cords, that caused him to lose his voice, she suggested that I do a healing painting for him using salt. So I played some beautiful music and allowed spirit to help me channel this painting. When I saw the winged helmet I knew it reminded me of something, so I researched, and realised that it related to Hermes (Mercury). According to some myths, Hermes was not only a wondrous messenger of the gods, but also the inventor of speech. My husband was thrilled and I think it helped us both gain some faith in the slow process of recovery. His voice is slowly returning but it has been especially hard because his gift and passion is chanting.Mercury going retrograde can feel challenging but it used to be perceived as a celestial demonstration of Hermes the messenger travelling through the underworld — clearing old dead energies, and making space for healing, Then he would return to Helios the sun with information, before setting out on a new journey. Such an inspiring new perspective! I’m planning more art with salt and healing paintings for friends, although I am aware the salt will sadly eventual eat into the paper.#salt #sacred #ephemeralart #alchemy #healing #messenger #protection #artheals #mercury #spirit #hermes by @venetianevill

Have you made friends with the snake yet? As the final skins are being scraped off, belly on the Earth, there might be hidden gifts in the discomfort. Snakes often appear in my art; as the Oroborus, the symbol of eternity, eating its own tail with no beginning or end, feeding the need through clay connection, and in this painting, part of a ritual to protect the north side of my house. I love the perspective of what happens when the snake combines with the turtle. Known as the “Mysterious Warrior” in China, this pairing represents the north and the winter season. Combining movement and stillness with the ability of turtle to be absolute quiet and of snake to be absolute swift, yin and yang, life and death. Yielding to the rhythm of the North, place of elders, purification, renewal and cleansing, sensing the earth preparing for rebirth. Last winter I really surrendered to the call of her darkness, spending as much time as possible resting in that still but fertile space. All change and transformation begins within. Enticed by the quivering snowdrops and spring birdsong i am emerging from hibernation. I would love to be able to tie up all the loose ends the snake has unravelled, but we are still in transition, and releasing, so it feels important to be patient and honour the process. I know that I have been radically changed by life this year - snake medicine has felt brutal but heart opening and healing too. I am hoping this nourishing inner resource will continue to grow and sustain me through this exciting year of the horse ahead! Go gently dear friends and fellow travellers! #yearofthesnake #ritual #art #healing #alchemy #stillness #compassion #surrender #awakening #ouroboros #blessings #lovenature by @venetianevill

Have you heard the call of mugwort. She has been whispering to me all year, and her voice seems to be getting clearer as I am drawn deeper into Winter’s stillness. She offers a dream portal to an ancient embodied remembering. Her powerful aroma can awaken a profound knowing, and comforting. My relationship with her has deepened and evolved, mainly through sharing her magic in rituals, mandala offerings and art shows. Visitors often seem magnetically drawn to her powerful transformative energies, sensing an opening in their awareness, and being given new perspectives and visions. On this epiphany, I will take some to stir in the Spring. This Installation is my love song to her, honouring her gifts, and connection to the mysteries. But it also highlights the healing power of our own native plants, which we often overlook. For years, I had been using white sage to purify, and clear stuck energies at home , with no idea that we have so many precious ancient plants that can be wonderful for smudging, We don’t need to deplete the over harvested white sage in other countries, when we have our own precious indigenous plants. I am showing ‘Mugwort Dreamimg’ @sevenoakskaleidoscope open beautifully curated by @rosalinddrawing @sue44evans @cliff_sarah with over 80 talented artists. Do come to the artist talk, drink and prize giving by wonderful artist @paulamacarthur_ on Wednesday 7th January 2026, 6-8. Kaleidoscope is an amazing artist led space . Thanking all the generous resilience spruce trees, for their gifts! Especially at Christmas when they brighten our homes in the winter darkness, bringing their powerful aroma, and healing energy!Remembering a precious pilgrimage of sound and light to honour the felled spruce trees, and anyone whose life had been violently severed. We placed candles on the spruce stumps, weaved songs and played music to console, and honour the land, and all the beings affected by the felling. Holding space and prayers to carry with the light to all those suffering in these challenging times. As we planted our prayers & light seeds of regrowth and rebirth, my dream to see the fallen trees connected with the stars in a constellation of hope, and potential felt realised. Thank you @xcellaerial for his sensitive drone photographs and for identifying the constellations of Pegasus, Orion, Cygnus, Cassiopeia, Triangulum and Ursa Major in the spruce lights. I have discovered another surviving spruce in the wasteland, and a little baby seedling emerging from the roots of a sapling oak tree. The spruce qualities of renewal, resilience and resurgence inspire me and are a reminder to expect miracles. Thank you to all the lovely friends who came, and wonderful musicians especially @luminousrosetrails @liamig0 and @katariina.vaura @djmarcjb for bringing your beautiful presence and sacred sounds. Wishing everyone peace, harmony and gentle regeneration this Yuletide!#spruce #healing #light #renewal #forgiveness #ceremony #ritual #lovesong #devotion #alchemy #lovetrees #witness #redemption #christmastree by @venetianevill

So special to cocreate a mandala at ‘Altered Perspectives’ to bring peace, balance and healing. And to begin our candlelit pilgrimage to the beat of the drum, to plant a Seed of Light in the ground, and in our hearts at Green Park, before moving our light out into the world. It felt like the stars were with us, as we began an inner, and outer pilgrimage. Blessing our doubts and releasing our fears, letting go of the sycamore seeds,, created space for the new ways of seeing, and being to enter. Surrounded by gorgeous art in the gallery, and nourished by our descent, we took the generous apples to cross the threshold, and remember the preciousness of reciprocity. Celebrating our gratitude and connection with the mandala offering, honouring the natural ebb and flow of the seasonal cycles, and the sacredness of all of natures gifts. We left the gallery holding candles to symbolise the strength of our inner light in these darkening days, before the winter solstice. And we carried a second light for those who are suffering, and unable to hold their own light. We danced around the trees, welcoming the light within, creating a spiral of healing light, and seeding it as a blessing for all of earths gifts that we receive from her every day.Big thank you to dear friend @markphillipbaldwin for inviting me to bring the ritual, to the Curator @andrewflintshipman and @kateflintdesign , to all the lovely friends who joined me and especially to lovely @agni_las_healing for her exquisite sounds and wonderful footage and @sarahmcw_photos for all beautiful photographs! Changing states alter our perceptions. ‘If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.’ Wayne Dyer I am delighted to be invited by talented artist, dancer, and choreographer @markphillipbaldwin to bring an elemental ritual to celebrate the group exhibition Altered perspectives. We will gather at 3.45 to start at 4, on the 25th of November, which apparently is a special day for initiating sacred journeys and inner pilgrimages. I will bring vine leaves, quince and lavender for us to cocreate a mandala as we begin our journey within. Then Mark will dance us out of the gallery as we head to Green Park continuing our journey outwards, to honour and remember our precious connection with nature. Slowing down and listening to the natural world always helps me to see, and feel things differently. The trees support me when I’m out of balance, and I enjoy giving back to them for their generosity, whenever I can. We will create a little ritual around a trio of dancing lime trees. ‘Linden opens the emotional and spiritual heart,’ and soothes our nervous systems. It is also a tree of Jupiter, the planet of abundance, expansion, and luck that rules Sagittarius. Thank you @roger_lee_photographer for the wonderful photograph of me jumping for joy on the vine leaves I have collected. The spiralling vine symbolises inner journeys as it weaves the conscious and unconscious, helping us speak our truth, and reminding us to celebrate the sacred in everything. ‘Letting Go’I’ve come to really love the sycamore. At this liminal time of Samhain it helps me connect to the void, the stillness and the mysteries. It is also the tree I go to when I’m in resistance. It has absorbed my tears, and sorrows, alchemising them into softness, acceptance, and compassion. Watching the magical helicopter seeds dance their descent, often inspires me to release what i think I need to be ok, and trust the infinite possibilities. This painting was exhibited at my solo exhibition this time last year at The Bhavan Gallery in London. The sycamore reminds me to stop holding on so tightly, and allow imperfections to reveal their giftsThe holy sycamore was revered in Egypt as the “Tree of Life,” with its beautiful branches acting as a sacred bridge between earth and the heavens, connecting the unseen with the seen. I will be bringing sycamore, vine leaves and quince to @electro tonight to cocreate a ritual to honour Samhain, and support dynamic @carolineagregory as the Morrigan’s Crow embodies the turning of the year. Swipe for details and images of our last magical ritual. @extraordinaryodyssey25 Do join us at 6 outside for the opening ceremony for @theartistmarkwalter solo show ‘Confront the Silence Without Light’. And my prayer is that the increasing darkness will be an opportunity to create space for regeneration, integrating the light of the intense summer, and allowing us to remember how to truly rest and renew! This lvulnerable time invites us to soften, listen, and remember so our light can tenderly, and courageously hold the dark. #lettinggo #regeneration #elemental #sycamore #ritual #art #lovetrees #Samhain #intothedark #unravelling #liminal #remembering #listening by @venetianevill

Release your burdens, my loveAs the snake sheds its skin.Let me wrap you in a cloak of forgiveness bring healing balm to your severed sacred lifeHow may I tend your dislocated scattered branches Our heart songs will transmute your grief welcoming the alchemy of regeneration, remembrance and belonging I have been tending the land where the spruce trees were felled, making offerings, taking sacred water and feeling a surprising amount of peace. The area is now incredibly light and of course filled with the poignant aroma of the healing resin. I was encouraged by the emerging little shoots from other cut tree species, and the poor saplings that had been mutilated but were still standing. But was aware that this wasn’t the final stage and unfortunately a giant mulcher is coming in to clear up and remove any remaining trace of the beetle. I am relieved that they’re not going to be burning the ground but it all seems a bit brutal and unnecessary Lying on the grass at night looking at the stars I wondered what it would look like from the sky if all of the tree stumps were lit up. A constellation of spruce. On Saturday, 18th October at dusk I will be joined by some friends and musicians, and we will place a candle on all of the spruce stumps that we can access, and play music to console and honour the land. We will hold space for all beings whose life has been violently severed . And after we have left, a tree lover with his drone will take images from above. Do message me if you want to join us and live near Tunbridge Wells.#spruce #healing #light #renewal #forgiveness #ceremony #ritual #lovesong #devotion #alchemy #lovetrees #witness #redemption by @venetianevill
