On June 6, @veniacollection debuted Dear, Sincerely at Los Angeles’ historic Travel Town Museum — the avant-garde atelier’s largest public presentation to date, and the launch of @anima.initiative, a nonprofit platform for independent and underrepresented artists.Set among century-old locomotives and drifting steam, the Spring/Summer 2027 collection explored migration, memory, and the space between hello and goodbye, honoring the immigrants whose journeys built this country. The evening unfolded as a living archive across the grounds — letters written, stories shared, and a roster of LA artists bringing it to life: styling by Antonio “Urban” Dillard, choreography by Masha Cherezova, storytelling by Polina Cherezova, music and composition from Patrick Shiroishi, Nelson Diaz, Dylan Fujioka, and more, with immersive technology by Zoey Zhu, 4DV, and VIBA. A violinist opened the show in mist; more than twenty dancers moved down the railroad tracks. Founded by Christine Ko and Keeter Ly, VENIA designs at the intersection of fashion, performance, and narrative world-building.This marks a first for Evoke Muse. Chris Wong is a self-taught designer and founder of _CODED [underscorecoded], an independent designer focused on slow design and personal storytelling. Influenced by digital media, functional systems of living, and modern craftsmanship, his work examines the relationship between form, identity, and motion. Each project reflects his ongoing pursuit to define what it means to be a designer outside traditional structures..Through _CODED [underscorecoded], Wong explores identity, belonging, and connection by designing, experimenting, and creating works that express his personal vision and lived experience. His practice draws from his understanding of how people become who they are through their environments, routines, and creative systems. Every piece is grounded in patience, repetition, and imagination, a slow craft built over time and through self-discipline..[PERSONA]: A MOMENT, A TIME, A MEMORY.The [PERSONA] Capsule is a body of work that represents the most recent chapter in Chris Wong’s ongoing search for self and his acceptance of identity through creation. Demiurge, an installation by Kate Mueller at Venia Studio. Join us on September 12th from 6-9pm for the Opening Reception, featuring an artist talk at 7pm. In Plato’s myth, the demiurge is a divine craftsman who uses eternal ideas as perfect blueprints to shape the material world. But in the act of creation, the pure forms are inevitably corrupted by imperfect materials.At the center of a darkened room stands a seven-foot-high resonator. It is a unique sculpture crafted from clay, bamboo roots, and metal, with articulating, panel-like arms. A soft, glowing light emanates from its core. When you sit in the chair, you become the new center of this light, and your body casts strange, organic shadows across the space.This simple act of entering and sharing the space alters the experience for every person present. Save the date! Next Sunday Aug 24th is the live premiere of my performance art piece Dismantle starring Qwenga! The project originally started as a short film during my time with the DUB Platforms film fellowship, and we have decided to bring it to life! Come bring your friends and family to be apart of this transformative ritual. There will also be a double feature film screening of both my original Dismantle film, and Qwenga’s short film Monolith. Free with RSVP. Link in bio! Dismantle is an experimental ritual exploring the process of dismantling an ever-growing, perpetually maze-like structure from within. This is an effort to question and become familiar with the mechanics of deconstruction and reconstruction, both literally and figuratively. The structure itself functions as a metaphor for pain, abuse, systemic oppression, and the like. This experiment uncovers tools for effectively deconstructing/reconstructing both the world’s external societal structures and our own internal mental frameworks. We all carry with us our own ever-growing, perpetually maze-like structures, and are implicated in the endurance of these structures, as well as their destruction and reconstruction. How can we break free from and reimagine something that we have grown so accustomed to? Something that has effectively become an extension of our own body? The structure’s deconstruction and reconstruction is both a catalyst for imagining our way out of larger societal structures, as well as a reflection on passivity as perpetuation. by @venia.studio
