Venture Arts is an award-winning visual arts studio in Manchester working with learning disabled artists to create opportunities in arts and culture.

▶️ PRINTMAKING: Over the past few months, Venture Arts artists have been working with artists and printmakers from @hotbedpress to create a brilliant new collection of collographs, etchings and screen prints.

Next Friday, we’re opening the studio to celebrate the project. Come and see the prints, meet some of the artists and printmakers involved, and hear more about how the work was made.

These are extremely limited editions, with some collographs and etchings available in editions of just 3 or 5, and screen prints in editions of 25.

We're getting ready for a brilliant evening of printmaking, art and good company as we join forces with the lovely folk at @hotbedpress for our special print fundraiser.

Come along, meet the artists, enjoy a drink and browse some beautiful, limited-edition prints. Plus, there's 10% off all prints purchased on the night, with proceeds helping us buy new printmaking equipment for the Venture Arts studio.

🎭💫 Last week, some of the artists headed over to see our friends at the Royal Exchange Theatre to explore Mythic Reinvention - a brilliant exhibition celebrating 50 years of costume, craft and storytelling at the theatre.

There was plenty to take in (and try on!) 👗🧵 From getting hands-on with the costumes to looking closely at all the details, it was a brilliant chance to experience the exhibition up close and see the craft, imagination and storytelling behind the work.

Thanks for having us, @rxtheatre 💚.

💥 And just like that…it was time for the headline set 🎧

After months spent visiting record shops with @supernature_disco and @wearevinylsunday, digging through the crates and filling his record box, Horace was finally ready to take to the decks.

Yesterday, he headlined his very own DJ event at @piccadillycentral_mcr, supported by Neil Clarke, Shade, DJ Vimtonic, Darren Sykes and Supernature Disco.

Perfectly timed for Black History Month - a brilliant moment to celebrate Horace as a Black artist taking centre stage.

And what a set. 💥

Did you know that Aviva Studios has a dedicated pop-up chill out space?

In collaboration with Venture Arts (@venturearts_), we've created a private space to take a break and self-regulate at Aviva Studios, home of Factory International.

The chill out space includes soft furnishings, weighted blankets, fidget toys and ear defenders, along with a bespoke sensory toolkit designed by Manchester-based artist Sarah Marsh (@thesensorytoolkit, @sarah_evelyn_marsh).

We heard from the team at Venture Arts, as well as artist and workshop facilitator Sally Hurst, artists Violet Elmsley and Sarah Marsh and Access Manager at Factory International, Jay Millard.

🎉 Big news for Emelia Hewitt and Malik Jama, who have been selected to take part in @new_contemporaries.

Last weekend they headed to Southend-on-Sea with Venture Arts Facilitator Martin Livesey and Director Amanda Sutton for the welcome weekend - meeting the new cohort, exploring the city and kicking off the year ahead.

We’re so excited for Emelia and Malik, and can’t wait to see where this experience takes them.

▶️▶️ Over the last eight weeks, Venture Arts studio artists Sarah Lee and Becky Hislop have been exploring women’s history across Greater Manchester as part of our Cultural Enrichment Programme 💜 💚🤍 .

The project has included time with National Trust historian @helenantrobushistory, alongside visits to @salford_museum, @thejohnrylands, @aiucentre, @elizabethgaskellshouse and @thepankhurst.

Along the way, Sarah and Becky have discovered stories, collections and different perspectives on women’s history - gathering ideas and building knowledge.

🌟 Our brilliant Cultural Enrichment Programme creates tailored projects with arts and heritage organisations, giving Venture Arts artists opportunities to explore culture in depth and develop new skills and experiences.

Over the past few weeks, Venture Arts artists have been working with artworks sent over by artists at @sa.specialarts in Seoul - responding directly onto the pieces and adding their own ideas, marks and styles through painting, drawing, collage and printmaking.

The finished collaborative artworks are now ready to travel back to Seoul.

🌍 Studio artist Maddi Lingard is currently taking part in Syncing Space, an international online residency bringing disabled artists together to make, experiment, collaborate and develop their creative practice.

Created by Sync Leadership, the residency gives artists space to explore new ideas, connect with artists from around the world and take part in coaching and leadership sessions alongside their creative work.

As part of the project, we’re sharing this short film introducing Maddi, her work and some of the influences behind her practice.

Wonderful to have our co-founder, Ronke Jane Adelakun, speaking at the Pro-Manchester Creative Conference this morning in a thought-provoking discussion on using creativity for good alongside some incredible people doing amazing work across Manchester.

We absolutely loved meeting the panellists including:

@profkirstyfairclough of @schoolofdigitalarts
Mark Cline of @madebymortals
Facilitated by: @headstretcher of @creativeconcern_

It was a powerful conversation exploring how creativity can be used to solve real-world problems, how organisations doing social impact work can position themselves to attract funding, and how we can harness AI for good without using it to replace the creativity, skills and livelihoods of creatives.

We also loved connecting with other attendees, including making new friends at @instigatearts, and catching up with some of the wonderful team at @thisispromanchester.

A brilliant morning of conversations, connections and ideas around the role creativity can play in creating positive change. 💫 by @venturearts_
