After 10 years, the Philadelphia Classic finally returned to Manayunk this weekend and Joe, Jonah VB, and Andy were out capturing the action as cyclists took on the streets of Philadelphia. 🚴‍♀️ This race brought professional cyclists back to one of Philadelphia’s most challenging courses, including the iconic Manayunk Wall and its steep climbs through the city.

Joe even ran into some of his neighbors and colleagues along the way, making it a fun weekend of reconnecting and seeing everyone out in Manayunk.

Swipe through for highlights from this weekend’s race, and head to our blog for even more photos! Video coverage from the team is coming soon — stay tuned!

In honor of World Food Day, we’re celebrating the incredible partners who are helping us make a difference in the fight against food insecurity.

Through their dedication to providing nourishing meals and connecting families with essential resources, our partners remind us of the impact we can make when we come together with a shared mission: ensuring everyone has access to food.

We’re so grateful for the organizations, volunteers, and community members who show up every day to make a difference. Together, we’re working toward a stronger, healthier community where everyone has access to nutritious food.

Today, we honor and celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day by recognizing the cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous communities.

These photos were taken during @amrevmuseum Indigenous Peoples Weekend in 2024, which featured traditional Lenape social dances performed by members of the Delaware Tribe of Indians, cultural demonstrations and storytelling with Indigenous living history interpreters, hands-on wampum belt crafts, and educational activities exploring Indigenous peoples’ experiences during the American Revolution.

May we continue to honor Indigenous communities and celebrate their stories and traditions every day.

Last week, the University of Pennsylvania’s new Impact Scholars Program kicked off with a live taping of How to Really Run A City, bringing together former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, former Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, and former Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum for a conversation about civic leadership, public service, and the future of American cities.

Launched by Mayor Nutter in partnership with Penn’s Weitzman School of Design, the Impact Scholars Program connects emerging civic leaders with former city leaders who can share the experience, knowledge, and lessons they’ve gained from public service.

The live conversation explored what it means to lead a city, deliver for residents, and empower the next generation to take on the challenges facing cities today.

Visit @thephiladelphiacitizen for links to the full podcast episode and more details from the conversation.

On September 28, our team had the honor of documenting the groundbreaking of a $21.7 million Rebuild project to transform the historic McPherson Square Library and its surrounding six-acre park in Kensington. Speaker after speaker took the podium, each sharing what this place has meant to the community and what it has long been missing.

The need for this project is evident. The renovation will deliver a fully modernized library, improved accessibility, new community spaces, a new playground, updated landscaping, and enhanced lighting, all in service of a neighborhood landmark that holds deep significance for the people who live there.

The groundbreaking also marked Mayor Cherelle L. Parker’s 1,000th day in office as Philadelphia’s 100th mayor, a fitting milestone to celebrate through an investment in a place that serves the community every day.

Visit @rebuild.phl to learn more about the project!
