The house with a pool, fifth and for now, last painting inspired by the weekend in the magical Llança. This house had so much film like mystery and I really liked seeing all the colours within the apparently murky scene. There is something I love about painting with oil straight on paper. The way the paper just sucks up oil leaving paint feeling waxy. #oilpainting #oilonpaper #llançà #nocturnas #nightpainting taken in Llançà, Costa Brava by @verchun

Reposting this painting as I was looking at it and suddenly I was transported to the moment I was painting it. It was winter 4.5 years ago when I was trying to get pregnant and after the first failed IVF attempt. I was weighing the pros and cons, the health risks versus a chance to have a baby. All of my detailed thoughts come blasting through my mind when I look at this painting as if they were somehow permanently mixed into the chemistry of the paint itself. This happens with all of my paintings. They are like little memory sticks that I can just “plug in” when I look at them and hear the music, smell the scents, feel and think the thoughts that were present when I created the work. I wonder if this happens to anyone else? Perhaps not with paintings but with something else…? taken in Barcelona, Spain by @verchun

Another quick oil on wood sketch of my Icelandic experience before my eyes get desensitized to the subtleties by the strong southern sun and bright and saturated colours. 10x15cm This is the ever elusive Esjan.

Soul searching. This one is roughly a meter by 85cm, oil on stretched linen.
As I’m exploring these inward/outward compositions I’m doing some real soul searching and discovering that the deeper I go the more I have to dig.

Continuing with the theme Windows and gazing outward but also reflecting inward and mixing the chaos of watercolour with the structure and opacity of gouache. Not necessarily a finished piece but an exploration for a larger oil painting. Onward and upward as the sun comes back to Barcelona!

Another in the series of self reflections/portraits and, of course, windows. Playing with watercolour without much pressure. The rear window is the gift that keeps on giving.

“I wish I hadn’t cried so much! ... I shall be punished for it now, I suppose, by being drowned in my own tears!” Alice’s adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll
Another self portrait incarnation- Watercolour and Gouache on Arches paper. I’m starting to enjoy watercolour these days

It’s time for self portraits as I stayed away from them for so long. I usually don’t manage to get anywhere with watercolour but this one I like.

Turning the gaze inward while playing with some watercolour and gouache. Hoping to do one in oil soon as I think the medium will lend itself better to camouflage
