Extremely excited to start this journey with my new @neotone.digitalhandpan 🛸 As soon as I took it out the box I knew I had to bring it for my trip upstate to @verdantsoundny and find some peace here next to the lake. Happy to share this and more coming soon. 🧘🏻‍♂️ by @verdantsoundny

Most recording studios are designed to isolate creativity inside a room.

Our Verdant Sound project in Parksville, NY does the opposite.

Set on six acres around a private lake in the Catskills, the property was designed from the ground up around the idea that creative work doesn't happen neatly in one place. An idea might begin at a console, change during a conversation over dinner, find its way outside, and become something entirely different by the water.

The entire property is part of the studio.

The forty-foot live room, SSL control room, listening lounge, theater, bedrooms, gathering spaces, grounds, and lake work together as one creative environment. The property is wired so recording can move between them, allowing the architecture and landscape to become part of the process rather than simply its backdrop.

That makes Verdant Sound difficult to categorize.

It's a professional production space, but also a residence. A place for focused work, but also for collaboration, long dinners, listening sessions, swimming, walking, and stepping away from an idea before returning to it. Artists can come to make something and actually live alongside the work for a while. by @verdantsoundny

Render vs. reality at @verdantsoundny. From the inside out, our part-studio / part-residence property in Parksville, NY matches the early vision. by @verdantsoundny

Verdant Sound is a recording studio and creative home in the Catskills.

The live room is treated end to end with custom-carved @turf.design wall panels tracing the topography of the site. Overhead, contour baffles are suspended beneath the 40-foot cathedral ceiling.

One part house, one part professional recording studio.

That simple brief developed into something more profound.

Our collaboration with @verdantsoundny resulted in remarkable spaces. A triple-height live room with a glass wall overlooking the forest and lake shore. An integrated residence based on our Village Standard. Outdoor spaces that blur the line between inside and out.

But it's the idea that creative production isn't confined to certain spaces that makes this place innovative. Great takes don't just happen in the live room at a scheduled session. They happen while noodling on the deck. Or down on the dock. Or late night in the lounge. They happen while whistling on the lit forest paths at midnight.

Everywhere across the Verdant Sound property is meant to inspire. But more than that, it's set up to capture that inspiration. Throughout the property, there are ways to record and plug in instruments, both indoors and out. The entire place is a studio, and the landscape itself is another instrument. by @verdantsoundny

Sometimes the best work begins by stepping away.

Spent some writing, thinking, and creating in the Catskills.

Grateful to @verdantsoundny for providing a space where artists can simply focus.

More to come. by @verdantsoundny

Spent the weekend working on some new ideas at @verdantsoundny studio up in Parksville. Really inspiring place to get lost in the music for a few days, surrounded by nothing but upstate NY nature.
Left with some good sketches that I’m looking forward to finishing up. by @verdantsoundny
