The figure is never simply a body in Mirror Minds. For Christian (@christianverginer) and Matthias Verginer (@verginermatt), it becomes a site for instinct, memory, vulnerability, and transformation. Christian’s sculptures place the human form in close relation to the natural world, while Matthias turns inward, using carving, drawing, and layered surfaces to suggest what remains hidden beneath appearances. A first glimpse of what is to come: in his South Tyrolean studio, Matthias Verginer (@verginermatt) is completing a new series of sculptures where carving, painting, and perception become inseparable. Moving between raw timber and meticulously painted surfaces, each work invites a slower way of looking 🌱 This September, we look forward to presenting these new works in Montréal in a duo exhibition with Christian Verginer (@christianverginer), bringing together two distinct approaches to contemporary wood sculpture! ••• Dans son atelier du Tyrol du Sud, Matthias Verginer achève une nouvelle série de sculptures où la sculpture sur bois, la peinture et la perception deviennent indissociables.
