We absolutely adore this couple!! While reviewing footage, we realized we just barely missed capturing their perfect kiss and dip moment — but let me paint the picture for you! These two are so deeply loved that their wedding was bursting at the seams with guests eager to celebrate their joy. The house was packed! Our quartet was tucked into the balcony with about two feet of space (truly!) between the wall and the rail — we were cozy, to say the least! 😉

With limited room, we positioned the camera through the little openings between the rail posts, doing our best while keeping the music flowing. While we didn’t quite catch their faces during that magical dip, the energy in the room was electric — something we’ll never forget!

In this photo shoot, I wanted to capture the collision of two worlds. Everyday I take something as antique as a cello and combine it with the modern world to create something. It should never be about “out with the old and in with the new!” but rather, what can we do to progress? That’s exactly what I think many artists of our time are starting to realize. Artists like @raye and @jacobcollier who understand the importance of antiquity but bring it into our current world in such a way that it speaks and resonates. Classical artists love to cling to what’s right and wrong. I don’t blame them…but if we don’t allow for even an ounce of flexibility, where will it leave us but living in the past? Thankful to have the opportunity to bring modern music to life on an instrument as old as time.

Yes, that’s my grandfather’s typewriter, my grandmothers gloves, and a $4 hat from an estate sale my mother swore I would never wear 🤓

Thankful for @jennayoungphoto for capturing my sentiment so beautifully 😍❤️🥰

And of course, had to sneak a little Dolly in there ☺️

Creativity comes at a price…but it may not be what you think.

I have been thinking about this concept a lot. I took a 3 week trip across Europe while trying to stay on top of emails, logistics, etc. If you’ve emailed me recently, you’ve probably noticed my communication has been a bit slow.

Normally my Capricorn type A personality kicks into overdrive when I’m a bit behind and that’s when you get those emails from me at 2 or 3 AM. But on this trip, I was forced to take a step back. I didn’t have signal in the middle of Iceland so I couldn’t send emails in the car. There was no WiFi on the plane so I couldn’t work on playlists or research sheet music from France to London.

And it all made me think…

I have built a business based on emotion. Every artist has. It’s why you go to the symphony, or a play, or an art gallery, or a dance. You, as the audience, want to feel something. At the end of the day, you have hired us to feel. But feelings and emotions can only happen when there is the time and space to let them. Creativity thrives under boredom. Not pressure. And that’s exactly what I experienced when I finally let go of trying to respond in the middle of a waterfall. I found through that space and release, a renewed sense of musicality. Of wanting to create something on my cello. Remembering why I do it in the first place.

The truth is, as all small business owners know, I NEVER stop thinking about you. You are always on my mind. How I can make your vision come true. How I can enhance your day and make it better than you dreamed of.

But two truths can be valid. I am only able to create when I can think. And I can only think when I have the time and space to do so.

In a world of immediacy, I am constantly balancing the art side of things vs. the business side of things. How do you handle this? Do you experience the same balancing act in your job?
