We’re excited to finally share publicly some special news: Levi and I eloped! 💍💐 We celebrated our 6th anniversary together by getting married in a private courthouse ceremony in downtown Austin. It was such an intimate, emotional moment with just the two of us and the judge. We jetted off to Mexico City to celebrate our little secret and surprised our family and friends with the news when we got back!

We’ve spent the past six years building a partnership, a life, a home, and a community together, sometimes in very unconventional ways. We’ve learned more about love and trust from each other than we ever thought possible. We’ve grown individually and together. We’ve chosen each other every step of the way on our journey here and we’ve promised to continue choosing each other for every day that follows. 🤍

Levi, my sweet pup - I love you with everything I’ve got. I’m so proud to be by your side, now and always. 🥹🙏✨

this is the most fun i’ve ever had and i’m so grateful that I get to spend my time making music. my friends and i created something that didn’t exist before and will now exist forever and that’s pretty fuckin cool.

thank you to my best darlin @levimethvin for having the vision to get us here. i’m so proud of you and I’m in awe of all the beautiful sounds you come up with in that brilliant head of yours. I found out I was autistic when I was 19 years old and I’ve spent the last 8 years learning what that diagnosis means to me. In some ways, it was a relief to learn that there was an explanation for the seemingly endless challenges I experienced as a child and adolescent. I’ve felt frustrated that I wasn’t given the opportunity to build some necessary tools and skills for autistics in childhood. I was told at the time of my diagnosis that many of my survival-based coping mechanisms were so ingrained, it would be difficult to replace them with more helpful tools. There’s been anxiety and stigma (much of it my own). I’ve felt a lot of fear that I wouldn’t be able to differentiate between my genuine personality and the masking behaviors I’ve adopted to more easily navigate the neurotypical world (I’m still afraid of this a lot of the time).

I’ve also found an incredible amount of liberation and acceptance in my diagnosis. I’ve broadened my understanding of what hidden disabilities look like and released a lot of shame and judgment in the process. I’ve learned that “normal” is a relative term. I’ve found a deeper appreciation of so many relationships borne out of beautiful connections of like-minds in vulnerable moments (👋 hi @juniebeemo). I’ve begun to accept that the fundamental differences in my brain can simultaneously be a superpower and a disability, and that I don’t have to apologize for either.

I am infinitely grateful to have had the support of my community and access to healthcare, as both were essential in this journey. I am still unlearning my harshness, growing my gentleness, and building my understanding of myself and my interactions with the world. Autism looks like many different things in many different people, and there’s no “correct” way to be autistic. To those of y’all who maybe haven’t had much experience with it, I hope you know that autism looks like me. ♾ #autismawareness #autismacceptance taken in Austin, Texas by @vermoots
