With temperatures rising to limits we can barely manage, I’m sure you can imagine how this can affect our furry friends. 🐕🐈🐇🐄🫏🐐

Heat Stroke is very prominent in our climate with only a 50% survival rate. Therefore, we’d like to spread awareness. Here are some tips to prevent, identify and manage heat stress in your pets.

Playful Puppy Appreciation Post 🐾🐶

We love our pups and to ensure they’re in the best of health we recommend they get their vaccinations, deworming and heartworm prevention on time. Vaccinating your pups from 6 weeks of age protects against diseases such as parvovirus and leptospirosis.

Contact us today @ 876-544-3898 to schedule your puppy visit!

Happy Holidays from Vernon Vets!
•
•
As we celebrate the season we want to remind pet owners of the dangers you can avoid by keeping your animals away from these festive foods:

1. Alcohol- Similar to humans, alcohol consumption can lead to severe intoxication and liver damage in pets. It can also affect bone and joint health.

2. Bones- Though it is a common practice to give a dog a bone, cooked bones tend to splinter easily and can get lodged in your pet’s digestive system causing blockages, lacerations and further trauma.

3. Onions & Garlic - These commonly used holiday seasonings can be highly toxic to the blood of dogs and cats, leading to anemia and hypertension.

4. Chocolate, especially dark chocolate, contains a compound called theobromine that is harmful for our furry friends. Signs of chocolate intoxication include: seizures, vomiting and increased thirst.

5. Fatty foods- As much as you’d love to share. Giving your pet “just the likkle leftover fat trimmings” can lead to pancreatitis, causing severe vomiting and diarrhea.

Resist the puppy dog eyes this season for an emergency free holiday!
If your pet is experiencing any of these symptoms please contact us at 876-544-3898
