Hidden near Cabo Silleiro in Baiona, Galicia, Praia dos Cristais is one of Spain’s most unusual beaches.

Just imagine walking through Lisbon to find this in December 🇵🇹🎄✨

I remember the first time we visited Lisbon in christmas we got truly impressed by the festive mood and the decorations, in Madrid we don’t have such cool decorations, and the fact that they tried so nicely to match the lights with the music just gives them extra points!

When you think of Spain, you probably picture Seville, flamenco, sunny beaches, tapas and endless summer days… 🇪🇸☀️

But here’s something many tourists don’t expect:

Spain gets snow. ❄️

And not just a little bit of “it got cold” snow - there are entire mountain regions where winter looks completely different from the Spain you usually see on Instagram.

After living here and travelling around Spain, we’ve @vero.rares realised there is so much more to this country than the usual tourist postcard.

And that’s exactly what we love exploring - the food, the places, the little surprises and the side of a country you don’t always see on a first trip.

This is Praia dos Cristais de Silleiro in Galicia, a small beach famous for its colourful “crystals” - which are actually pieces of glass naturally polished by the ocean over the years.
The glass came from bottles and other discarded items, and the sea slowly turned the sharp pieces into these smooth, colourful stones. You can find them in different shades, especially green, blue and brown, which is what makes the beach look almost unreal.
And this is just one of the many unusual places in Spain we’ve been to but never showed you - some of them you probably didn’t even know existed. 👀

We drove almost 500 km from Madrid to spend one day in France 🇫🇷

And honestly, we didn’t have a huge plan.

We wanted to see the ocean, walk around Bayonne, try some French pastries and just see what we’d find.

Of course, we also had to do the very important things: compare prices at a French supermarket, try French McDonald’s, and pick up some snacks. 😂

Bayonne turned out to be such a beautiful little mix of French and Basque culture - colourful houses, rivers running through the city, historic streets, good food and that relaxed atmosphere we were looking for.

And then we ended the day back by the ocean, watching the sunset. 🌅

Autumn in Spain looks like a movie 🍂
Everyone visits Spain for summer. Nobody talks about what it looks like in November - golden palace gardens, a Nordic-style forest with a lake, and a mountain village straight out of a film. All of it about an hour from Madrid.
