like so many little girls, i grew up feeling insecure about my body. with my broad shoulders, stocky thighs, soft tummy, and a frame that barely reaches five feet, i spend an unhealthy amount of time comparing myself to the “perfect” bodies i see around me.

but last weekend, this same body carried me through my first triathlon.

this body carried me through turbulent waters, pedaled through rolling terrain, and powered through until i crossed the finish line.

i still get insecure about my body. i probably always will. but WOW, what a blessing it is to have a body that carries me, challenges me, and pushes me through hard things.

here’s to my first triathlon! may it be the first of many :)

prepped everything as early as the night before. i learned that there is no such thing as “over”checking with your race paraphernalia.

my favorite discipline out of all three. not my best time, but happy i finished first in my wave! 💪

lost momentum when i turned instead of going straight ahead, and that cost me a few slots. memorizing your route will really make or break your race!

mannnnn, i absolutely HATE running. but the energy of the racers and the organizers was on another level! i was smiling though the last stretch even though my lungs seemed to have forgotten what air tasted like!

beyond blessed that i finished my first triathlon safely and injury-free. finishing 10th in my age group was a lovely bonus!!

did anybody else go through this weirdly intense October - November or was it just me? 😓

⭐️ 1-3 : i think it all started when I kicked off my October drunk 🫦 if you have been my friend for a long time, you would know that I rarely ever get drunk. in hindsight, a friend realized maybe it was the MSG from the hotpot… (@czarinaaaem, let’s not do that again ty)

⭐️ 4 : the day of the aftermath (aka the hangover), i went to swim with @swimcentralph because i knew i couldn’t nurse the splitting headache in bed forever. 10/10 would do it again.

⭐️ 5 : i watched The Substance @ Cinema ‘76. it was very ‘mindful’ of how women perceive their bodies. it was very ‘Demi Moore’ 🤭 had a fun time catching up with @_intuit !! we love you, Tito Sprak!!!!! our Yak Gagu enjoyer ❤️

⭐️ 6 : my only drinks on rotation for these past months are Alcohol 🔄 Lipovitan

⭐️ 7-8 : Biostat 201A Case Study sa umaga, @defaultcafepub 7th Anniversary Party sa gabi 😎🔥

⭐️ 9 : bumisita ng Kyusi si ex-work boyfie 🥰 @darcicist

⭐️ 10 : PH 201 Case Study Defense (I dreaded this SO MUCH)

⭐️ 11-14 : mga kaganapan nu’ng Bagyong Kristine… ang pangit pangit pangit pangit mo, Kristine!!!!!! ‘Di ka mahal ng mama mo!!!!

⭐️ 15 : my best friend in a little package 😖 i sometimes think God wanted to give me a child but He knew i couldn’t handle it as well as we ALLLLL know Ate Iya would so sa kanya niya na lang pinadala si Silay. hahaha thanks Ate 😘

⭐️ 16 : josh mojica kung ang business niya ay yelo 🔥

⭐️ 17-18 : October did NOT look good and November was starting to look just as bad. so I did what any normal girl would do in that situation…….. I cut my own bangs

⭐️ 19-20 : feeling ko ok nmn ean sha eong bangs teh cute nmn

overall rating ng rollercoaster na ito — 2/10. don’t wanna go through it again. had fun times though. but pls don’t bring me back by @veronvca
