Yesterday July 1, 2026, Sony announced a major announcement that's making shockwaves across the gaming industry. Starting in January 2028, Sony PlayStation will be killing off production of physical video games. There's so much implications and considerations over this business decision, from Sony having more control over pricing, the used games market being eliminated, and the likelihood that the PlayStation 6 will be a digital-only console.

And simply put, I've made a meme showing what it feels like for Sony PlayStation to be ending physical PlayStation games in 2028. Overall, the news is a major blow against physical media and game preservation efforts.
