Quick update on Sam. He’s 4 weeks out from a complete right Achilles rupture that we’re managing nonoperatively, and he’s doing great.

Nothing groundbreaking today. We removed one section of his 3-part heel wedge, introduced some gentle ankle ROM while keeping him in plantarflexion to avoid prematurely stretching the healing tendon, worked on some foot intrinsics, and incorporated a few compound movements we can safely get away with to maintain fitness and facilitate healing.

The goal right now is to protect the healing tendon while keeping him as active as possible.

Hope to have another update when he hits 6 weeks. by @vertexpt

Went out into the wild today. 😂

Spent part of the day visiting some of our neighbors around Irmo and dropping off invitations to GLOW LOCAL on October 1st.

One of the things we really want to do differently at Vital Glow is actually know the people and businesses around us—not just exist in the same ZIP code . by @vertexpt

Please welcome Dr. Chase Hill, PT, DPT to Vertex! Chase is now seeing patients at our Cayce location.

Chase grew up in Williamston, SC, where he was actively involved in sports and outdoor activities from a young age. He attended the University of South Carolina, earning a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. Following his time in Columbia, Chase went on to pursue his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Anderson University, graduating in 2024.

Chase enjoys working with individuals from all backgrounds and with a variety of diagnoses. He is especially passionate about helping patients who are motivated to return to their previous level of function and activity. He values the process of getting to know each patient, understanding what motivates them, and developing an individualized approach to help them achieve their goals.

Outside of physical therapy, Chase enjoys spending time with family and friends. He can often be found trying new restaurants, attending Gamecock games, or spending time on the golf course. by @vertexpt

Athlete: "I HATE running."

Me: "OK, sure. But, why?"

A: "I suck at it. Its super hard."

Me: "Whats a run typically look like for you?"

A: "I feel out of breath and Im dying."

Here's another long form post about how to avoid that, some different types of runs, and how to integrate strength.

PLEASE add to the discussion any coaching tips you have or types of runs you have found to be fun or helpful.

Happy World PT Day!

Physical therapy is about helping people keep doing the things they love, with the people they love.

Grateful for the incredible community that makes all of this possible. 🇺🇸💪 by @vertexpt

Bookmark if the ADHD is cooking... longer post.

We wanted to share what goes into writing a run program 101.

Big take homes are put together 4-5 week mesocycles with weekly microcycles. After each meso program is a deload week.

As always, train smart. Push where you need to. And keep in mind...

The magic doesn't happen by tearing yourself down with effort in training.

The magic happens in smart recovery where your body rebuilds to handle the next load of stress you put on it.

📍 Vertex Outpatient Home Health is expanding into Lancaster County!

We’re excited to welcome Dr. David James, PT, DPT to the Vertex team as our newest Outpatient Home Health Physical Therapist. With his addition, we’re officially expanding our services into Lancaster County.

David was born and raised in Lancaster and earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of South Carolina.

David’s connection to Vertex began during PT school, when he completed a clinical rotation with our Outpatient Home Health team. During that experience, he developed a passion for providing one-on-one physical therapy in the home and building the unique relationships that come with meeting patients where they are.

Now, he gets the opportunity to bring that care back to the community where he grew up.

Outside of work, David enjoys church, spending time with family and friends, cheering on the Gamecocks, watching movies, and making the occasional trip to Bernie’s Chicken.

We’re excited to have David on board and even more excited to bring Vertex PT to Lancaster County!

Welcome to the team, David! 👏 by @vertexpt
