When teaching climbers, I focus on something I call outcome anchors.

An outcome anchor is an attentional focus on the result of an action, rather than the complexity of the movement itself. The best climbers know what to pay attention to—and here’s what’s even better: you can learn it too.

If you want to immediately improve your climbing with a few simple attentional shifts, join my newsletter (link in bio).

I’ll be diving deeper into this concept in this week’s newsletter post! taken in Murlough Bay and Fair Head by @verticalascents

Train for climbing at GP81.
We’re about to launch the Fall 2026 Introduction to Training for Climbing program. It’s a 12-week coaching program for GP81 members who want to bring
more structure and direction to their training.
You’ll learn how to train in the gym using the set climbs, the training boards and the hangboard. You’ll also learn valuable strategies for training, managing
training volume and building momentum with your climbing.
This program is the first step in our new coaching and training pathway.
The next program starts September 28.
$175 for 12 weeks.
Applications are now open. Find out more and apply at the link in our bio. taken in GP-81 by @verticalascents

Some climbers seem to go decades without a finger injury. Others get them over and over again.

Over the years, I’ve stopped trying to explain why some climbers never get injured. Instead, I’ve become much more interested in when finger injuries actually occur.

This week I’ll share the patterns I’ve noticed when coaching and climbing.
