Wild 70 is a compact Alpine ultra where vertical density replaces distance as the main source of difficulty.

At 66.9 m+/km, with 40% above 1,800 m, 19% Strong Climb, 21% Strong Descent and only 38% runnable terrain, the course demands a balanced athlete: strong enough to climb, efficient enough to descend, and disciplined enough not to spend too much of the available reserve early.

WILDSTRUBEL 110 โ€” Pre-Race Analysis

Wildstrubel 110 is a race of repetition, not one decisive climb.
Its 60.9 m+/km Vertical Density, 41% altitude exposure, 17.3% Strong Climb, 17.5% Strong Descent and almost perfectly balanced 51/49 effort distribution create a course where efficiency has to be maintained for the entire loop.

The Wildstrubel Race DNA: high-altitude exposure, balanced climb/descent demands, substantial runnable terrain, and a course that keeps asking for another mountain long after the first major summit.

You think youโ€™re a good descender? Prove it. ๐Ÿ‘€

Going downhill fast is easy.

Going downhill fast when the terrain gets steep is a skill.

Thatโ€™s why we created DMI โ€” Descent Mastery Index.

๐Ÿ“‰ We isolate descents steeper than โˆ’12%.
โšก We measure your average speed.
๐Ÿ“Š We turn downhill performance into a metric.

Because โ€œIโ€™m a good descenderโ€ is an opinion.

DMI makes it measurable.

Soโ€ฆ
Whatโ€™s your DMI?

๐Ÿ”ฅ CCC 2026 โ€” The numbers behind the race

Cristian Minoggio won the menโ€™s race with the strongest vertical profile of the field:

โ›ฐ๏ธ VPI 1274.5
โฌ‡๏ธ DMI 15.65
โšก ER 88.6

But the most surprising number came from the womenโ€™s race.

Yngvild Kaspersen came from behind to win โ€” with an incredible ER of 97.7 and a pace that changed just 0.09 min/effort-km between the first and second half.

She didnโ€™t just run faster late.

She barely slowed down.

And thereโ€™s more hidden in the numbers: Caitlin Fielderโ€™s ER 92.4, Mathieu Delpeuchโ€™s ER 87.9, and the decisive difference between Toni McCann and Miao Yao in the second half.

๐Ÿ“Š The full CCC 2026 analysis is now live.

The result tells you who finished where. The numbers tell you why.

UTMB 2026. The fastest edition yet. But the numbers tell a different story.

Ben Dhiman went 18:16:29 โ€” with the highest VPI (1131.7) and DMI (14.35) of the men's Top 10.

But hereโ€™s what caught our attention:

VirgileMORISET (Bib 101) finished 4th with the highest ER of the entire men's Top 10: 88.5.

And he didn't get there by starting fast. He moved from 20th to 4th through the second half of the race.

In the women's race, Blandine Lโ€™HIRONDEL (Bib 15) combined the highest VPI (947.6) and DMI (11.84) with a historic sub-22-hour victory.

But the highest women's ER?
Anne Ceฬcile THEฬVENOT (Bib 72): 91.0.

Different athletes. Different strategies. Same question:

Who was actually performing most efficiently?

That's what we look at at Vertical Trail Labs.

๐Ÿ”๏ธ 15 races. 315 runners analyzed.

UTMB Week is here, and we just dropped our TDS Top 10 breakdown โ€” climbing efficiency, descent mastery, and pacing decay, all in the numbers.

This is what trail performance looks like under the hood.

Remy Brassac (@remy_brassac_ ) won the TDS 2026 โ€” 148 km of technical mountain terrain, 19:28:43 of racing, and a performance that can be broken down beyond the finish time.

โ›ฐ๏ธ VPI โ€” 949.9 m/h
His climbing performance peaked at 1,376 m/h early in the race, with another 1,251 m/h peak later on.

But the other side of the profile is just as interesting: his lowest VPI values were 609 and 646 m/h.

โฌ‡๏ธ DMI โ€” 11.47 km/h
A strong overall descending profile across the race, measured on the steepest downhill segments.

โšก ER โ€” 82.6
A high endurance rating across 148 km, with an effort profile of 4.36 โ†’ 5.12.

The numbers don't just tell us that he won.

They show how he moved through the terrain, where he produced his best climbing performance, and how much of that performance he could sustain across a brutal 148 km.

The race tells the story. The data shows how.

11 races and 246 athletes analyzed.
Some has already 2 races in their profile, like @ben_dhiman & @sagarueda

And the engine is just getting started.

From steep climbs to technical descents, we've been putting trail performances through the same lens: race after race, athlete after athlete.

VPI ยท DMI ยท ER

Not another finish-time ranking.

Performance, measured.

And with UTMB just days away, the timing couldn't be better.

Stop Guessing. Start Measuring.

@lisaborzani won the Monterosa 120๐—ž and her Athlete Profile reveals a very interesting pattern.

โ›ฐ๏ธ ๐—ฉ๐—ฃ๐—œ โ€” 787.2
Her strongest climbing performance came at km 10, reaching 1073 VPI.
But the interesting part is what happened much later: at km 112, her VPI was still 934.

โฌ‡๏ธ ๐——๐— ๐—œ โ€” 10.04
Her best descent performance followed the same pattern.
15.49 at km 10 โ†’ 12.96 at km 112.
Strong early performance, followed by the ability to reproduce a high level of climbing and descending deep into a 120K.

โšก ๐—˜๐—ฅ โ€” 76.5
A profile that reflects how effectively she sustained her performance across the full mountain effort.
Her lowest points appeared around km 46 and km 107, but the late-race numbers remained remarkably solid.

That's exactly why we don't reduce trail running performance to a single number.
