Canadian non-profit charity providing aid to CAF and RCMP Veterans who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or in crisis

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Our hearts are heavy as we learn of the tragic events unfolding at CFB Wainwright in Alberta.

On behalf of everyone at VETS Canada, we extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and fellow service members of those who have lost their lives. To those who have been injured, we wish you strength and healing in the difficult days ahead.

The military is more than a profession. It is a family, built on bonds of trust, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to one another. When tragedy strikes one part of that family, its impact is felt across the entire Canadian Armed Forces community, including those who have long since hung up their uniforms.

We also recognize the tremendous courage and dedication of the first responders, military personnel, and healthcare professionals working tirelessly in the face of this tragedy.

As we await further details, our thoughts remain with everyone affected, especially the families anxiously waiting for news of their loved ones.

To our military family in Wainwright: Please know that you are not alone. Across this country, an entire community of Veterans, serving members, and Canadians stands with you in grief, compassion, and solidarity.

From all of us at VETS Canada, our hearts are with you. ❤️🇨🇦

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour the Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the families and communities who continue to carry the lasting impacts of this painful chapter in Canada’s history.

At VETS Canada, our commitment to serving Veterans includes recognizing and honouring the service and sacrifices of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Veterans—many of whom served Canada with courage and distinction while they and their families faced discrimination and injustice here at home.

Truth must come before reconciliation. Today is an opportunity to listen, to learn, and to reflect on the role each of us can play in building relationships rooted in respect, understanding and dignity.

We honour the Survivors.
We remember the children.
We stand with Indigenous Veterans, families and communities.

Every Child Matters. 🧡

On 28 August 2026 we wrapped up our Back to School: Fuel the Future event with a community BBQ. It was a wonderful event where we were able to acknowledge the people who helped make it a success.
Presenting Sponsor: Auction Advantage
BBQ Meat Sponsor: Chater Meat Market
BBQ Salad Sponsor: #conciergecatering
Lunch Bag Sponsor: Commissionaires Nova Scotia

We were able to distribute 63 backpacks filled with a lunch bag containing nutritious school snacks and some school supplies. We could not have done this without our incredible sponsors.

We also took the opportunity to acknowledge our neighbour A&J Graphics who has been incredibly kind to our Veterans Community Pantry. If you are in need of any graphics work, please consider supporting this Veteran-owned business.

We would also like to acknowledge @ValourWoodworks who is another wonderful Veteran-owned business. @Valourwoodworks created all of the plaques that we presented to our sponsors. They do incredible work and we would like to encourage you to go follow their page. They currently have an incredible opportunity where if they reach 1000 followers, they will be elligilble for a business sponsorship, so please go follow their page.

Thank you to all who made this a success! by @vetscanada

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honour the courage of the first responders, service members, and ordinary people who stepped forward in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

The events of 9/11 changed the course of history and led many Canadian Armed Forces members to answer the call to serve. For some, the impact of that service continues long after they returned home.

At VETS Canada, we honour their service not only through remembrance, but through our continued commitment to stand beside Veterans when they need us most.

We remember those who never came home, those who served, and all whose lives were forever changed.

We will never forget. 🇨🇦🇺🇸

📚🍎 Help Fuel the Future for Veteran Families This Back-to-School Season 🇨🇦

As children prepare to head back to school, many Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP Veteran families are facing a difficult reality: choosing between paying bills and putting healthy meals on the table.

That’s why VETS Canada is launching Operation: Fuel the Future—our Back to School Food Pantry Fundraiser to help ensure Veteran families have access to nutritious breakfasts, healthy school lunches, and pantry essentials throughout the school year. VETS Ca Back to School (5).pdf

Join us for our Back to School BBQ at The Garrison (211 Main Street, Dartmouth) and help make a difference!

🕚 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Today, we celebrate the country we are proud to call home. 🇨🇦

Canada Day 🇨🇦 is a time to reflect on the values that unite us—compassion, resilience, service, and community. It is also an opportunity to recognize those who have served and continue to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces and the RCMP whose dedication and sacrifice have helped protect these values, both at home and abroad.

At VETS Canada, we are reminded every day that our Veterans' service does not end when they take off the uniform. They deserve our gratitude, our respect, and our commitment to ensuring they have the support they need when facing difficult times.

As Canadians gather with family and friends to celebrate our nation's birthday, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember those who have served and those who continue to serve our country with honour.

From all of us at VETS Canada, we wish you a safe, happy, and meaningful Canada Day.

Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦

Empowering Veterans with practical money skills.
We’re excited to launch our new monthly Financial Literacy Seminar Series, designed to help Veterans build financial confidence and stability. These seminars will be held on the last Tuesday of each month and presented by Donna Upham, CFP. In addition to being a smart and dependable Financial Planner, Donna is a military spouse who understands firsthand the realities of military life and the financial transitions that can follow. Come once or come every month! Our aim is to empower Veterans with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently manage their finances and plan for the future. by @vetscanada

As the year comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what we’ve accomplished together.

This year, because of the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our donors, VETS Canada was able to provide critical support to Veterans and their families facing homelessness, food insecurity, crisis, and transition. This year, we moved into our new National Headquarters, opened our Veterans Community Pantry, and, thanks to your support, made a real and measurable difference in the lives of 620 Veterans and their families across the country. To put that into context, that is the largest number of Veterans we have supported since 2018.

The need, however, has not slowed—and neither will we.

As we close out 2025, we invite you to consider making a year-end donation. Your gift today helps ensure Veterans receive the support they deserve, when they need it most. Donations made before December 31 are eligible for an income tax receipt for this tax year.

Together, we can end the year with impact and start the next one with hope.

Donate here: https://vetscanada.org/english/give-help#donateArea

Thank you for standing with Canada’s Veterans—this year and always. 🇨🇦 by @vetscanada
